Works well, but not great

Don't let my title fool you, for the most part this product does exactly what it should and does it very well. The screen is free from flicker, looks good at 800x600 (anything higher on a non-HD tv is too small), and I'm very pleased, overall, with the product.

It advertises a zoom feature, which it has, but the zoom is not stepped, it's either full-screen, or zoomed in to where regular sized text takes up most of the screen. I would have thought this was stepped in order to get the most effective viewing area. Also, if you are zoomed in and would like to move around the screen, you have to adjust the screen position on the device itself, which is inconvenient at best. I'll probably get a magnification program rather than use the zoom on this box.

Otherwise, I find this product to be a very nice device. It is not too complicated to setup, it's labeled well, provides flicker-free conversion, the screen position adjustable (meaning that you can center the display on your TV), and I think it's going to be a great unit for my wife's classroom.

I'm gonna tell you what no one else did

Works great, does what it's supposed to and not much more. Signal quality is great, some resolutions oversan the TV more than others, and there doesn't seem to be anything you can do about this. No discernable flicker.

Things you should know (that for some reason are not on this page):

The light doesn't light up when it's on.

There are 'freeze' and 'sharp' buttons on an optional remote that are not on the device itself (remote does not come with this device.) Supposedly this sharp button is to get rid of flicker and that's a little worrysome, but I didn't see any flicker as it was.

The device requires 5V, and it comes with two power cables, one each to hook to a larger keyboard din and smaller PS2 din connectors for power. It also comes with a USB to small din PS2 adapter so you can also get power from the USB. There is a picture of a mouse on this adapter so maybe it can be used to hook up a PS2 mouse?

Also included is a VGA Y-cable for monitor passthrough (as this is not on the device itself), an S-Video cable and a composite cable (RCA.)

Worked great!

This product was simpler to use than I thought it would be. We had it out of the box and working within a few minutes!

Here are a few tips: the S-video cable (all cables are included) gave a slightly clearer picture than the RCA cable, so if you have an S-video connection on your TV, use it. (If you have an S-video connection on your PC, you don't need this converter.)

Once you hook it all up, you have to go to the Control Panel on your PC, choose 'Display', choose 'Settings' and then make your second monitor active. You will then see the wallpaper image of your desktop on your TV. You must drag the window you want to see on your TV to the right (off your PC screen) and it will appear on your TV. (This part confused us for a few minutes -- I expected to see the video on BOTH my PC and the TV at the same time, but it didn't work that way for us.)

One more tip: if you're buying this to watch i-Tunes downloads, shows with not a lot camera movement (like 'The Daily Show') look fine. Shows with lots of camera movement (like 'Lost') are a little choppy. This, I believe, is due to the degree of detail (data) in the downloads -- not this converter.

i bought this before tvs came out with pc hook ups and before i built my own pc now my pc just hooks up threw hdmi still have it works fine after 10 years don't use it any more tho when i did use it it was on a tube tv and it worked fine

Great for Price

Works well for normal definition video or presentations with larger text. Not good for Windows browsing use, especially at higher resolutions. Didn't try with games. Powered through PS2 or USB port. Works at 60 Hertz refresh rate; if you have your video set at a higher rate, it probably won't work. Great for the price.

I tried to do everything the instructions told me to do and I tried to use my laptop show on my DLP flat screen. it was alot more complicated than I thought it would be and i never did figure out how to make it work and eventually gave up.

too much money for what you get

Its a "cheap" solution to computers without TV out, but the signal is crappy and noise sometimes. The power cable (USB) is clunky and I think this device is poorly made. Better buy a PCI video card with TV OUT if you're limited by hardware, they're awesome for this purpose.

Bad, It didnt worked for me

I got this product from Amazon. I am very unhappy to see not working. Unfortunately there is no support team to help too. In the end I have to return this one back. I got the similar one from RadioShack. Though this is expensive, works best for me.
