Great value and works very well

I purchased this camera after I spent about $300 over the course of 5 weeks doing clean outs on my sewer line and the last plumber said he could feel a weird connection or a break in the pipe and I needed to get someone to visually inspect the pipe. After multiple phone calls to different people that do this service, I got a range of between $300 and $400. That was too much so I checked renting the equipment and it was over $200. I decided to go for this camera even though I knew it was a low end solution and didn't have many of the features that the top of the line systems have. I'm glad I did. It showed that someone had tied the new PVC of this 10 year old home into the old clay sewer line of the former home that had been there and that clay sewer line must have settled over the 50 years or so. There was a 20 foot section that the slope was up hill and all the solids were settling in that section of pipe. I had no problem with pushing this through even when I hit the multiple rough joints and a cracked section of the old clay line right before we got to the city's section of the line that was 55 feet away. I'd buy this again and recommend it to anyone with sewer problems. It did show a couple spots where roots were starting to penetrate and another where grease was bunching up but that wasn't my issue. I am just mentioning it as someone may be wondering if the resolution was good enough to expose those issues, and it is. Also, I put tape every 5 feet on the 65 foot line so I could keep track of about where the issues were at when standing above it. I have a few rental homes and will use this camera many times over the next few years.

Update - 16 months after purchase - I have used this camera 6 times in 6 different houses (friends' homes and rentals) and it still amazes me. It has always worked perfectly and has found 4 cracked clay pipes and 1 disjointed PVC pipe for me and my plumber. My plumber is also a friend of mine so I have let him use it on 3 occasions too. He now wants to buy it from me.

Let me start by saying that I am a plumber. This camera works great & considering the average rental costs me $250+ it only has to last a couple of jobs to be paid for. The small size is very similar to the ridged camera snake that goes for about $6000. This camera goes through 2" 90's no problem. ( FYI don't put your camera through P-traps. Not just this camera but any camera.)

This product works fine for residential applications. BUT it is now broken, exactly as the 1 year LIMITED warranty ran out. By limited they mean they do not warranty the snake or head, which is most of the product, so the warranty is kind of BS. The company is also very hard to deal with.

Good product for the price. The battery backup does not work and is inoperable. The company (not amazon) will not respond back to my emails or phone calls. I do not have the time to send back to amazon for a replacement as I carry this on every job daily as explained multiple times to the company. I ordered this camera to inspect a root damaged 4-5 inch sewer line at my home. This camera actually shows a better picture than the one that my plumber came and used and charged me 195.00 per hour for! The backup battery lets you use it if you don't have electricity close by. The problem I discovered with this unit is that the 65 foot fiber optic 'push rod (cable)' that is supplied is too thin and weak to push the camera through much more than 15 feet of pipe. It took quite some time to just get the camera beyond the trap, let alone the length of pipe from my house to the street. Then, once it gets through the trap, the camera head gets caught on the various sections of pipe hubs. Once you're about 15-20 feet out, you keep trying to push the cable through but it is to weak so it just starts to bunch up in the pipe. If the cable were more rigid I believe it would be able to jump past the hub connections. I suppose one might try to attach a heavy gauge piece of wire or steel cable to the push cable but for a 600+ item I did not think I should have to modify it just to get past 15 feet so I have returned the item. This would work great in a pipe with no traps or hubs, like a long piece of pipe with no hub sections, but that is not the way typical house sewer pipes are designed.
