I really like this player. My son received one two years ago and only now is it having any issues. He's six now and has been really rough on the discs, but they have held up well through hundreds of viewings. The player itself is far more durable than my expensive DVD player on my A/V system. But alas, today, the picture turns on and then goes blank after about 30 seconds. Not bad for a kids video player.

I bought one for my 5 and 3 year old for Christmas. My husband was unsure, but I bought it anyway. It turns out my 3 yr old loves it! He's very active, but he'll sit quietly and watch a video. We haven't had any problems. The screen will go blank while sound plays BUT that means the batteries need replacing - something we have had to do several times because my son loves to watch it. I did buy a car adaptor, so he can watch longer on trips.
The selection of PVD's are good. I love that there is Jeff Corwin and shark week. I hope they come out with more educational ones likes these. The only question I have is if the VideoNow Jr. PVD's play with this version.

Both of my kids got these for Christmas - great idea; not as expensive as a DVD player for the car (especially for those of us who don't want the portable one/plan to get next vehicle with built in) and the picture was really better than I thought it would be.
However, I only got my children two discs a piece to start. Now, NO discs worthwhile can be found anywhere. The only ones that are ever on the racks/online en masse are the Star Wars 3 pack (none of today's kids really want that), the Tony Hawk Skate Park (obviously they aren't interested there either) and Fear Factor (let's face it, if you let your kids watch FF you need to take the VideoNow player and hit yourself in the head - HARD).And even if I do find a couple on Ebay, the selection is so limited. I wish I'd just bought a cheap portable DVD player. Hasbro really missed the boat on this one - it could have been a great thing but they didn't make enough discs of the ones they do produce and need to put more shows out for the kids. My advice: Don't buy it. I am very disappointed in the disc selection - this is already at the bottom of the toy box.

I purchased the Videonow Color bundle, which included 3 pvds, for my 4.5 yr old for Christmas. I also purchased the Videonow Color Jr for 2.5 yr old. My husband thought it would be their least favorite toy and a waste of money, but has since changed his mind. Both my children love their videonows and take them everywhere. Grocery shopping is now a quite, pleasant experience, as well as errand running and longer car trips. I am also very impressed with the sound and picture quality and the durability (my son has dropped his many times with no ill-effect).
Even better is that the Videonow Jr and Videonow pvds are interchangeable. My daughter can watch the Dora Videonow Jr PVDs on her Videonow and my son can watch Spongebob on his Videonow Jr.
I also highly recommend the carrying cases. They are nice, offer extra protection against screen scratches, and do not interfer with the sound or picture quality. A bonus to the carrying cases is the separate storage area, with individual slots, for carrying up to 8 pvds.
I WILL NEVER BUY ANY ELECTRONICS FROM AMAZON AGAIN! I IMMEDIATELY REPORTED THAT THIS ITEM HAS NOT WORKED SINCE I RECV'D IT IN THE MAIL! TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED!

The Video Now player is a great gift for a young boy or girl. If the PVD titles became available for an older age group, then of course it would be great for older kids, and parents, too. It works very well, is easy to use, and plays just like it is supposed to. The color is very good. The PVD's are a good size and come in many different children's shows. Bad thing is that there are usually 2 episodes of a show on a disc. Perhaps in the future, Hasbro can squeeze more onto one disc. I would recommend this product, however try to get one on sale if you can. The PVD's can become costly, and any money saved is a good thing!

I shopped Kohl's sale on this item and Radio Shack and Fry's Electronics and Amazon's sale price was THE LOWEST even with shipping and handling. My daughter loves this toy and shares it with her sisters when we take long road trips.

My 6 year old daughter received this for Christmas and she has loved this gift. She watches it in the car or while we are on errunds, Dr. appt. etc. She is totally entertained by Video Now. I even took her to one of my office meetings and she sat quietly the entire time listening to it with her headphones. Great toy. It will it will be perfect for our many camping trips this summer as well.
Ours works perfectly and the batteries last a long time. We use the rechargable batteries.
