If you are planning to use this indoor and do not have access to the ceiling above the drywall, this is a great option. For my application, however, I would have been better served with a mount that had the bolts to the outside of the bracket and maybe a thicker mount, as the mount tends to rock left and right of the three included bolts if you install it as shown on the instructions (in a line). My fix was to add 4 more bolts to the left and the right and this did an adequate job of snugging up the mount (see the before and after pictures). The weak link and any motion now is at the top of the pipe where it is welded to the lower bracket, the TV still rocks when I remove the cover from the TV. I have not been out on a windy day watching, so not sure how it holds up to that, but I have not noticed much from the inside of the house.
The pipe is large enough that I was able to pull a power cord and HDMI through it and up to the ceiling, concealing the wire which made for a cleaner install.
My only other issue with the mount was getting the mount at the top level enough to plumb the pipe, at some point I need to remove the TV again and dial this in further. Take your time when you install to get this as level as you possibly can. There are adjustments on the lower bracket that the TV mounts to, I have it fully rotated in one direction and still have an ever so slight out of level TV (noticeable to me).
So over all, this is a nice mount for indoor use, adequate with a few more lag bolts for outdoor use.
I have limited room (despite having a master bedroom).
So, due to layout, the only way to hang a TV is from my ceiling. I had a 40" originally hanging, so getting this set up was easy since I already knew where to put the screws (support beam).
It looks amazing at the foot of my bed and has been holding strong since it was put together.
Complication wise, it's pretty easy and straight forward to setup. Just remember not to skip any steps by mistake like I did. Haha.
Nothing like streaming a video of a fireplace at the foot of your bed in the dark. It's quite soothing.
Thank you Amazon
I mounted the top bracket sideways because it fits almost perfectly on a two-by-four (on the wide side of the 2x4). As a result, I can't take advantage of the mounts ability to move forward and back (in the mount); however, I don't need or want it to move.
If you want to use its full features, you'll need to have access to something solid (wood, cement, etc.) that is as large as the mounting bracket if you want it to be as secure as can be. In other words, if you've got a wood beam in the ceiling (which is typically a 2x10 if there is a floor above it), the bracket will be wider than the narrow side of the two-by-ten. You can still secure it as is (because the screws go through the center of the mount), but the large screws take up a lot of real estate in the wood, which could cause cracking of the beam - but I'm no engineer. (I cut the sheet rock panel where I mounted it so I could see exactly what I was doing. I mounted a 2x4 to the ceiling beams so the 2x4 was secure first, and then I mounted the TV mount to the 2x4. If I could have easily hidden something thicker than a 2x4, I would have as the mounting screws are slightly longer than the thickness of the 2x4, but I'm 180 pounds, and I hung off the mount to test it and it was solid, so I figured the TV would be fine.)
The bottom line is if you can secure this thing well, it'll easily hold what it says it will.
