I purchased this "used" from "J & R Galaxies". It was advertised as "used and tested and repackaged" and for that came with a price reduction. When I obtained this splitter, it appeared to be new. It was perfectly packaged and worked perfectly. I am using this as an HDMI splitter for my home. I have a "Time Warner" cable box with only one HDMI output. I wanted to send that HDMI signal to another TV in my home. I used this powered splitter with a "Media Bridge", 3' cable from the cable box to the splitter and then a PTC, 100', amplified cable run to another TV. This splitter is advertised as "powered" and did indeed come wtih a 5 volt power supply which I of course used. The 100' cable has an amplifier in it as well. This "View HD" splitter has been working perfectly for about a month now. It transmits BOTH video and audio (as HDMI should) perfectly. The 100' cable run is through my basement ceiling and runs the length of my house. There is about a 3 to 4 second delay between channel changes with this powered splitter AND the 100', amplified cable run. I suspect that is because the HDMI signal must need to be synchronized if going through amps. I tried this without the 100' cable using another 3' cable from the splitter to a TV and that dropped the delay in channel changing to about 1 or 2 seconds. That does not bother me but if you are a "channel surfer" and expect to rapidly "click" through channels, this might be a problem for you. I suspect this would be a characteristic of any amplifed splitter/switch or cable. After shopping for a 4 port splitter, I found this to be an excellent value and it works perfectly for me. I have not tried this with a full 1080p, HDMI signal, only with by cable box output but so far, it works perfectly for me.

UPDATE, 4 YEARS LATER: Yikes, it is hard to believe that it has been 4 YEARS that I have been using this HDMI splitter. It is now March of 2014 and I am very pleased to report that IT IS STILL WORKING FLAWLESSLY. This was a very great deal. Remember, I purchased this "used" and it arrived and appeared "new". Either way, this device just works and here it is, 4 years later with constant use of splitting my "Time Warner Cable" TV box output for four televisions and this splitter continues to work perfectly.

I would most heartily recommend this product.

UPDATE: Wow, it's hard to believe that I purchased this device on February 16th, 2010. THAT WAS 7 YEARS AGO. This little box is still quietly sitting behind my "Time Warner Cable" box and splitting my one output from that box for my three TV sets. It has been working flawlessly for these last 7 years. I remain incredibly pleased with this device and still heartily recommend this product.

This is a fairly stable unit. All HDMI distribution amplifiers will be a bit dodgy at times. This one will not strip HDCP if that is one of your goals.

This is a great HDMI splitter. With the help of the Next Generation Remote Control Extender, the splitter allows me to view HDTV on 3 of my TV's from 1 set top box. Of course you will have the same program on all outputs but I only watch 1 TV at a time and I don't have to pay rent to the cable company for additional set top boxes. One problem I did have but was not the fault of the splitter. I have 3 flat screen TV's and 1 older rear projection TV. For some reason the rear projection TV which is a JVC does something to the splitter so it will not operate properly. I had to run component cables to the back of the set top box and bypass the splitter to achieve the results I wanted. Again it was the TV not the fault of the splitter. As others have stated, the red power light is very brite and would be very distracting if near your TV. The longest HDMI cable I am using from the splitter is 30ft and I still have a great picture. Very pleased!

I'm currently using 3 of the ports. Picture and sound quality are excellent. My only issue is when turning on one TV or blue ray player, it turns on or off one of the other TVs. When I turn on a blue ray player connected to the bedroom TV, the TV in the kitchen will turn on (the TV actually connected to the blue ray player does not turn on). The third TV in the office is not affected. If I then turn off the kitchen TV, the bedroom TV and blue ray player turn off also. I don't know if there is any kind of settings within the TVs or the blue ray player that would prevent this from happening or not. Despite these annoyances, I do like the product a lot. It appears to be well-made and was shipped in very high quality packaging. I would recommend this product to anyone that would need what it claims to provide if the annoyances can be tolerated or fixed.

I guess the main thing is the picture and sound quality I'm getting appear to be as good as ever.

I use with my HTPC setup to boost and split the signal from a Scientific Atlanta 8240HDC. I have two 50' HDMI cables running to two screens, both fed from this splitter. It splits the signal and powers the 50' run without an issue, but when switching between 1080i (the highest resolution supported by TWC) and 720/480, there is a horrible lag where the screen either snows up, or goes blue. The delay can last as long as 45 second, but seems to vary in duration--but never goes away.

The vast majority of time I watch HD stations, but TWC's on-demand screen/menu is broadcast in 720p; so every time I end an on-demand show (or leave paused a bit too long), I have the delay. While it sounds like a petty gripe, over the past 10 months it has become more and more intolerable. I contacted the company, and was told that all their products have a 'momentary' delay when switching between 480/720 and 1080i/1080p. When I explained the length of delay I was experiencing, the rep told me this was within the normal range.

For a splitter, it works great; eliminating signal degradation is excellent; but, be prepared for a 10-45 second delay when switching between HD and SD channels (hence the 1 out of 5).
