|Product Alert: IPS (In-Plane-Switching) is a technology for LCD displays that offers users wider viewing angles and bolder colors by allowing more light to pass through the panel. As a result, IPS panels can exhibit a slight glow around the edges and corners (also known as light bleed), which is entirely normal.

What is an IPS Panel?
IPS (in-plane switching) technology is the highest performance panel technology available in the LCD displays. The specifications and details of IPS panel technology are considered best for high accuracy in color, contrast and wide viewing angles. IPS panels offer excellent picture reproduction and suitable for photography, graphics design, movie production, CAD/CAM engineering, medical and security applications. Illustrations below represent how an image on your screen will look even at extreme viewing angles of up to 178°. With IPS panels, you will not have any color shifts or changes in the contrast ratio when you move the image across the screen or change your viewing angle.

Designed with professionals in mind
From 23” widescreen IPS panel to 1920x1080 resolution, from 90° pivot to height adjust function, from dual video input to 4-port USB hub, from eco-mode to VESA mounts, the VP2365-LED is designed with one thing in mind: to serve the needs of professional users and consumers.
Some of the applications where the VP2365-LED can be a perfect solution:
Eco-mode for up to 40% energy savings
|ViewSonic’s proprietary Eco-mode function comes standard with the VP2365-LED. When you don’t need all of the powerful features VP2365-LED has to offer, you have the option to reduce the monitor’s brightness, save energy, save the planet and prolong the lamp life. You can select one of the “Optimize” or “Conserve” options and save up to 40% energy. Especially under low ambient light conditions, adjusting the brightness will improve visibility by reducing eye fatigue. Reducing brightness will also prolong the monitor’s lamp life, improving your return on investment.|
Efficiency and comfort
Ergonomics is defined as profession of designing tools and work environments to best accommodate human performance and behavior. The VP2365-LED is one of the great examples of an ergonomically designed tool. Based on your height, chair and desk conditions, you can adjust it up and down for 5.3 inches, swivel it 360°, or tilt it 20° degrees, whatever makes you more comfortable.
Also, when designing a portrait mode image or a document (such as a flyer or a magazine page), you can rotate the monitor 90° and utilize your 23” screen size at its full extent. You can also adjust your graphics card settings so that all your graphics are rotated 90° as well.
Full HD Resolution
ViewSonic VP2365-LED’s 23” panel offers another new trend in the LCD panel market - 16:9 aspect ratio. This new aspect ratio not only natively supports Full HD 1080p content but also in a “non-distorted” way. For example, a 1920x1200 resolution monitor will also support Full HD 1080p but it will either stretch it to fit into a full screen or show blank side bars to avoid distortion. With a 16:9 aspect ratio panel, you will get the most out of your HD content since HD contents are natively designed in this format.
VESA mount and multi-monitor setup
Another critical element for multi monitor setups is the bezel design. We made sure that VP2365-LED features a thin bezel so that when you tile two, three, four or more monitors together, you have minimum lost space between them.

Do buy this monitor if you want a cost effective IPS
Don't buy this monitor if you want a cheap TN
If you have read a bunch of reviews or looked at many matte monitors you know that some screens have such an intense anti-glare coating it "rainbows" or makes text very grainy (despite the resolution of the screen). I am so happy with the anit-glare coating on this monitor. I really have to credit a review written about a Dell UltraSharp I was considering getting that warned about the finish, and recommended this monitor as superior. Boy were they right. A big part of what I do involves looking at text and I cannot stand it being grainy.
Very solid and sturdy. It has height adjustment, tilt, and even rotates. Better yet, it has cord clips on the back that really tidy things up. The USB ports are great too - I have a keyboard, mouse, cell phone charger all connected and the cords are completely hidden. The stand really makes this monitor feel like a professional, high quality product.
The colors are absolutely wonderful. At work I use an iMac and MacBook pro so I expect colors to be reasonably accurate. I do not notice any significant difference when I look at my ViewSonic side by side with the MacBook pro. You can read the other reviews from customers who have fancy calibration gear who found little difference out of the box and after calibration.

I originally bought a 23" Samsung SyncMaster from bestbuy. Compared to this ViewSonic, that thing is a complete piece of junk. Granted, the Samsung is fine for watching movies but really falls short for my needs. Unless you are a professional gamer or just don't care about quality, I don't see any reason to get a TN screen with the IPS coming down in price and faster response times these days. I haven't noticed any ghosting - the response time seems fine.
I have one other complaint. Because of some built-in energy savings program, the screens dimmed after a while. While I have nothing against conservation, Viewsonic shouldn't be installing such nonsense to save a few pennies a year, especially since I don't want them deciding whether I spend those pennies or not.
Although this review focuses on the shortcomings, I like and am satisfied with the monitors and would buy them again.
Set up was easy with no bad pixels found. I changed the setting under the settings button, color adjustment to sRBG. This negates having to adjust the brightness and contrast down, giving accurate colors (in my opinion).
My only complaint is with the height adjustment. The lowest it seems to go is about five inches measured from the desktop to the bottom of the monitor. The lowest height is fine when i am sitting straight in my chair but when i start slouching and putting my feet up on the desk, I would prefer to be able to lower the monitor further.
Other than that the monitor seems great - text is very readable and working on photos is a breeze. I don't have to worry about the photos looking different depending on what angle I am viewing them from.
I knew this in advance, but still surprised no HDMI connection. Maybe Viewsonic viewed that type of connection was unnecessary because this monitor does not have speakers. I hooked it up with the DVI to my new HP computer with no problems.
I would definitely recommend this monitor. Viewsonic does have one of the best pixel return policy and the monitor coating is very even.
