This nice looking blender seems very light duty and awkwardly designed blender. Lots of thin plastic used in this Chinease made unit. Certainly not what we consider a professional quality unit and not what we were expecting for a $150 Viking Professional blender.
Fortunately, ours is still working after 1 year of "light use" but we hate using it. Getting the jar on and off the machine seems awkward as there are two mating slots in the base that have to align with the jar bottom and our unit always seems to end up with the jar handle sticking straight out the front of the machine over the control knob. Makes reading the measurements on the glass hard as they are off to the side and you have to grab the handle from the front center and twist off to the side to remove the jar - very awkward movement. We are probably putting the poorly designed blade mechanism with its springy holder plastic thingy back together wrong, but there are no index marks for proper orientation, it must be luck of the draw as to how the jar's screw threads line up for reassembly. Now if you need to move your unit a bit to clean up under it you will be lucky if the soft rubber feet remain attached to the plastic base. Ours keep pulling out everytime we move it since the friction of the rubber feet grip our counter top more than the unit itself. We use our unit frequently to make smoothies and the blade/jar design action does not stir very well at all. Lots of starting - stopping, pulsing and prodding. Then when it comes time to pour...look out! Not much of a lip to pour from so you better have a spoon/spatula in hand or its going to make a big mess.
I doubt you are going to enjoy using this unit from a company who has chosen to put their name on a rather poorly designed Chinese manufacturered unit! My recommendation is to save your money and buy a quality machine from someone else instead of a company that seems to be selling name recognition over quality as far as this model goes.
Here's a shocker...plastic breaks! I'm not sure who came up with this design, but they should turn in their engineering badge. I'm now shopping for a new blender with metal parts. Thanks Viking. The real Vikings would be ashamed to be associated with something so weak!
