Hi quality metal and accessories. Super quick to set up fingerprints! And pin code set up just as easy! For fingerprint, just press red button under battery compartment briefly and do front, top, bottom, each side of a finger. When I say top and bottom - just have your finger higher in the fingerprint reader and then lower. So that anytime - even in emergencies you go to access, if you don't have your finger perfect on the scanner, it will still read it accurately. I had several other people test it and they could not open it.
Finally, I was so impressed with this, I did a youtube review of the VS-14BL so that you can get some tips on battery installation, set up, overall use. This is my first youtube video reviewing something so I did my best. My 11 year old Daughter gets credit for filming!
Now we go to the nitty gritty about the item. It looked good until I took the styrofoam off the LCD screen. I am still not convinced that this is not a used safe. Everything else looked ok, so I went on to trying to do the programming. The book clearly tells you that the key hole is behind the ID plate. Well, it took me a while to find it, because who needs instructions anyway, right? So, read the instructions. I am glad that the allen Wrench did not fall out during shipping, made it a little easier to remove the ID plate. So, after I read the instructions, I removed the ID plate, and the key worked great. This is where I found out how to get to the batteries. The 4 for the touch pad were pretty easy to find. Like I said earlier, the finding the place to put the LED batteries was like an Easter Egg Hunt...EVEN WITH THE INSTRUCTIONS! Alas, I found it and all the batteries are in. Now we go to the programming. I decided it was a good idea to read the instructions. This was actually the easiest part to do. I programmed 4 prints, 2 for my wife and 2 for me. Everything worked fine, so I erased them, and programmed them 3 additional times. Everything work exactly as I thought it should each of the 4 times. Now we go to programming in the touch pad. I thought since the LCD pad seems easy to scratch, I better program in a touch pad pin in case the finger print pad gets scratched. As you can tell, I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer. It took a while to get this thing to accept the pin. Quite honestly, the pin worked fine. It was all a series of operator errors. The LCD even said err! Well, I finally got the touch pad programmed. The safe is on a shelf in my closet. I have not bolted it in anywhere yet because it is too tall on the shelf to pull things out of it, so it needs to be mounted a little lower. But if someone was to come in and try and steal it, I think the weight of it and the contents may be a bit of a surprise to them. It weighs about 20 pounds empty. Put some things in it and it weighs nice. Not handled properly, like dropping it, it could break a foot or an ankle.
Knowing what I know now, I would buy this again. I would hope that after this review however that they seller will package it better for shipping, and examine the keypad a little closer. If I had ONE complaint, in addition to the scratched keypad and poor packaging, I would have shipped it back. It just looked like used merchandise, and I don't like paying full price for used merchandise.
I had to order it twice actually because the first one came with very rusty door.
The silver handle is not align with the door body which makes it look stupid the inside plastic compounds are very cheep made and very cheep Design like the battery housing and light housing
