Creating Smiles Morning, Noon and Night.
A hot, fresh waffle is always a favorite and with the VillaWare Belgian Flip Waffle Maker, they can be enjoyed anytime. Just a drizzle of warm maple syrup or topped with fresh fruit and a wisp of powdered sugar, or even a scoop of sorbet, the waffles are fluffy and the options are plenty.
Distinctive Design and Features
The distinctive stainless steel design with shale accents compliments any décor and will become a cherished tradition in your home. Adjustable temperature and browning control ensures your waffles will be done just the way you like it.
When the waffle maker is plugged in and the center button pushed, a ready light pulses while it warms up and will beep when the selected temperature is reached. Simply pour in your favorite batter, close and flip. Another beep will signal that the waffle is ready.
Cleanup is a breeze with nonstick waffle plates and a handy drip tray to catch any batter overflow.
The flip is important as it ensures the batter fully pours into every deep pocket of the waffle maker - making light and fluffy Belgian style waffles every time.

The reason for this low review is not because of the waffle quality but because the plastic handle/swivel lock snapped in half after only 3 months of use. I read reviews from others who had this happen but decided to purchase it anyway. I should have listened!
Update: I was able to repair the handle with a glue that I saw at the checkout counter of my local auto parts store (bought the glue for something else). I have never had luck gluing plastic but tried it anyway. It worked. The glue cost over $20 and is called rapidfix.
Our old Hamilton Beach Waffle Stick maker:
Anyway, did a lot of research on many brands and styles, and decided to give this one a try. I have some other VillaWare stuff, so I thought this would be good.
I like the controls on the main body, not the flip part. I like that the waffle maker takes just about 1 cup of batter. Easy to measure and pour. The flip seems to really help in baking the waffle properly. Have to make sure my batter is a little thicker, otherwise it starts coming out the sides a little. But it's easy to clean up. The temperature control and timer seem to work well. Having it on medium works for me, and letting it cook just a little longer after the finish beeps. I have to make sure my batter is ready before I turn it on, otherwise I might miss the first ready beep. Not sure how it will work if I miss it. I suppose I could just turn it off and start over.
I use Hungry Jack pancake and waffle mix, with a little Trader Joes Pumpkin pancake/waffle mix, and these come out well. Milk instead of water, and butter and eggs and a little cornstarch.
Be sure to lightly grease/oil the plates so the waffles come off easily. Place on a rack so it doesn't steam up the bottom as it cools, so it stays crispy.
I use this on weekends for the family, making about 4 whole waffles (4 cups of batter) within 15 minutes. And then they are all gone within 10 minutes.
As others have noted, you have to be careful with this. When the plates are opened to pour batter, it may tip to the side, so you have to be ready. Also, the locking latch has to be closed carefully, and turned carefully. If it doesn't feel right, you have to jiggle it a little and turn. With care, this should last a long time.
1) It cooks VERY consistently. Whether you have a light load or full load of batter you can count on it cooking the waffle to the same crispness every time.
2) I used the recipe on the Bisquick box and have had no problems with sticking. Occasionally with a light load I have to use a narrow tool to get my hands under the waffle but once I have a grip it comes right out. Afterwards, cleaning is a snap.
There is one minor flaw. If I put too much batter in the maker it will overflow during cooking as expected. This is a problem with the cook, not the waffle maker. Unfortunately, the tray underneath is not quite wide enough to catch all the spillage. A small amount will drip over the side and on to the counter. A paper towel, however cleans this very easily.
The many waffles I've made using it came out fine. It took a little experimenting to figure out just how much of my from-scratch batter to make.
I also like the interesting shapes that come out when you don't have enough batter to completely fill the waffler.
Only issues I've had with it are it's a little hard to clean, and it's too big to fit on any of the shelves in our cabinets or pantry. Fortunately, it looks nice, so it sits on display in the kitchen.
Very highly recommended!
Got this for my wife as a stocking stuffer gift this Christmas. The fam is a big fan of waffles and our 1940 iron was becoming a potential fire hazard. Wanting to preserve the family hand me down for special events we started looking around for a resonable replacement. You wouldnt think that would be much of an issue right? Well it was. Any respectful belgian waffle fanboy/fangirl will tell you the iron is as important as the batter and this iron does a great job.
The iron is well made and the added features of temp control and associated waffle is ready chime is an interactive plus that is welcome. The waffles it produces are big tasty fluffy circles of goodness and its performance is consistent.
See you around, SOUNDS
