“Romantic, descriptive, and evocative… The Village House captures the authentic spirit of a Cypriot village.” - Nadia Marks, best-selling author of Among the Lemon Trees.
Katianna receives a solicitor’s letter summoning her to Omodos, a mountain village in Cyprus.
What is at first an inconvenient trip quickly becomes more attractive as she spends more time there. Flooded with many childhood memories, she falls in love with her roots and relishes in the relaxed pace and warmth of her cousin and the Cypriot people she meets. And then there’s the simmering attention of the builder tasked with renovating the village house Katianna has inherited from her maternal grandmother.
Grappling with yo-yoing emotions, she returns home. But in London all is not well for her award-winning dating agency; her world is threatened, turned upside down, forcing her to question everything she believes in and has worked so hard for.
She travels back and forth and has to face the fact she has to sell the only connection left to her family.
But can Katianna have everything? Will she find a way to hold onto her business? Or will the pull of her heartstrings and the village house entice her to start over in a place closer to home than she ever imagined.

About the author

Born in London to Greek Cypriot parents Soulla Christodoulou spent much of her childhood living carefree days full of family, school and friends. She was the first in her family to go to university and studied BA Hotel & Catering Management at Portsmouth University. Years later, after having a family of her own she studied again at Middlesex University and has a PGCE in Business Studies and an MA in Education.
Soulla is a Women’s Fiction author and wrote her first novel Broken Pieces of Tomorrow over a few months while working full time in secondary education and is a mother of three boys. She has since published a historical fiction novel set in 1950s Cyprus and England, The Summer Will Come, and a short story, Unlocked which was inspired by her travels to India in February 2018.
The Summer Will Come has been earmarked as a Book to Movie project and is also currently being translated into Greek.
She is a compassionate and empathetic supporter of young people. Her passion for teaching continues through private tuition of English Language and she also supports writers with mentoring and book editing and has recently set up a social media campaign promotion service for new authors. (email contact: soullaauthor@gmail.com)
She is active across a number of social media platforms and can be found at @soullasays on Instagram and @schristodoulou2 on Twitter. Her website is www.soulla-author.com.
Her writing has connected her with a charity in California which she is still very much involved in as a contributor of handwritten letters every month to support and give hope to women diagnosed with breast cancer. One of her letters has been featured in a book ‘Dear Friend’ which came out in September 2017.
When asked, she will tell you she has always, somewhere on a subconscious level, wanted to write and her life’s experiences both personal and professional have played a huge part in bringing her to where she was always meant to be; writing books and drinking lots of cinnamon and clove tea!
She also has a poetry collection, Sunshine after Rain, published on Amazon and has most recently released a romantic contemporary novel, Alexander and Maria, through The Conrad Press.
Currently writing her fourth novel set in Cyprus and London, she is hoping to attract a book publishing deal for this story too within the next year or so.

When Katianna goes back to Cyprus to renovate and sell the house her grandmother left her, she is putting on hold her busy and demanding business back in London.
While she loves being the owner of an award-winning dating agency, she finds the stress and her hectic life in London less and less appealing. The Mediterranean Island and the Cypriot people seem to be calling her.
However when her heart gets involved that changes everything, and she has to fight for what she really wants!
I adored this book, the pages flowed easily, and I found myself right there along with Katianna. I love that @soullasays is also originally from Cyprus and now lives in London. Her beautiful and heart warming descriptions showed how much she loved both places.💕

Soulla’s imagery of the setting is vivid and she never failed to make me fall in love with all the characters in the story.
The story will guide you to the beautiful Cypriot village and it will lead you to absorb the culture and heritage of Katianna, the lead character.
This story pulled my heartstrings and made me cry this Christmas Eve.
The author developed Katianna’s connection with her Yiayia, grandmother, deeply in the story through her childhood memories.
The romantic scenes in this book are an icing on the cake. Soulla touched on relatable issues regarding the challenges of long-distance family relationships and love affair, the struggles of a modern-day career woman, and the trauma of betrayal.
Soulla’s thoughtfulness showed in her addition of references and notes to give her readers a clearer understanding of some of the events, places and words she used in the story.
Reading this book is like opening a Christmas present because I felt the author’s love for her culture, pride for her heritage and her passion for writing.
Congratulations, Soulla! I am so proud of you. Thank you for sharing this beautiful story to your readers.
I highly recommend this book.

Katianna, is a strong-minded woman, an entrepreneur, who has built up a successful business through sheer determination and hard work. Her business is her life. When a letter suddenly arrives from a Solicitor, informing her that her Yiayia in Cyrus has left her the family house, Katianna, sees it as a mere hic-up in her busy schedule. For her it will be easy, she will go there, renovate the house, sell, and resume her life in London.
Life, though, is never that simple, as Katianna finds out on her arrival in Cyprus. Too many memories come flooding back to her, causing her to re-live her youth especially when she reunites with her cousin Savva, and then she meets Polis….
This book evoked so many memories for me. It is a beautiful portrayal of a young woman, who thinks she knows exactly how her life will pan out, that is, until the arrival of the Solicitor’s letter, which brings forth unanswered questions, and makes her confront her roots, the essence of the family she left behind, and the ties that bind us to them.
Soulla, draws you into this world with beautiful descriptions, that you feel the warmth and ambiance of the Village, as it folds its warm arms around you. It captivates the reader with the delicious smells and tastes of the Cypriot Cuisine, as though you are sitting at the table with the characters. Most of all, her depiction of Village life arouses a sentimental feeling in the reader, that draws you in.
It’s a beautifully written book, and teaches us that we all have roots somewhere, and we should never deny them, because that is who we are.
I highly recommend it.

Fabulous , enjoyable story on point , didn’t want the story to end .
