I instantly fell in love with ALL of the characters (especially Beau ;) ). I really loved the plot of the book and the whole idea of the love triangle. Ashton loves sawyer, but, she can't help her feelings for the town's bad boy and sawyer's cousin Beau.
Sawyer goes away for the summer and Ashton and Beau happen to mend the friendship they once had. The reconnection was so special to read and I was gripped and excited the whole time.
There was not a moment I was bored reading this amazing book! I loved that you got to read both Ashton's and Beau's thoughts. Abbi does an exeptional job of writing Ashton's emotions and gives a great insight of feelings of lonliness and want on Beau's side. Beau is just oh sweet and yummy it left me wishing I was Ashton.
I hand on heart can honestly tell you that this is a difficult book to put down and will leave you wanting more! I have read it twice and could still read it over and over again and love it just as much!!! I more than HIGHLY reccomend you read this book!
The Vincent Boys was my first book by Abbi Glines, and boy was I hooked. I've gone on to read all her other books (which I highly recommend) but let's focus on this one. The story stars out well. The writing is good and for a contemporary story, it really flows quite well. From reading the back-cover, i thought we'd only get to read about the summer Ashton has an affair with Beau, but the book goes further and show the consequences their relationship has and both of them finding a way to stay together. When you think about it hard, it might seem disconcerning that Ashton was basically cheating on Sawyer (Ashton's boyfriend and Beau's cousin), but it is handled well in the story and Ashton and Beau never ignore the fact that what they're doing isn't exactly ideal. Beau was incredibly swoon-worthy and while I really wanted to hit Ashton over the head a few times for not immediately dumping Sawyer in favor of Beau, I can understand why she did it and it was good that she was able to find herself again during the progress of the story. Ashton really lost herself for a while there and had a wrong misconception of herself. I loved how Beau helped her see herself as she truly is and rather how people wish her to be. That made him that much more endearing to me. Bottom line is, as far as y.a. contemporary romance goes, this one a gem. Abbi Glines really represents independent authors well with her novel and the book really doesn't let itself be put down. Be prepared to lose a couple of hours of sleep once you start reading this (or re-reading this as I have done) because it's that good. The only thing I would say is to be careful in respect to younger teens as this does have a couple of scenes are better suited for an older set.
Cousins Sawyer and Beau Vincent were Ashon Gray's childhood best friends. They grew up and protected each other ever since they were five. And even from that time, Beau has always cared and loved Ashton until she became Sawyer's girlfriend. Since then, Beau and Ashton relationship grew apart despite the fact that they were practically the best of friends. For three years of Ashton's relationship with Sawyer, she tried to be good, to be descent, to be worthy of Sawyer's love and affection. She did her best to be the perfect girl for Sawyer--the good and the perfect (well, almost) of the two Vincent boys. Beau on the other hand, has always been the bad boy, the dangerous one. He was once her partner in crime, and he is the one who knows the real Ashton, the boy who love the girl she's trying to conceal. After spending time with Beau, Ash suddenly realized that she must have chosen the wrong Vincent boy after all...
There are lots of things I loved about this book. First of all, the characters. Ash is very real to me. She's an average girl whom you usually meet at school or in your neighborhood. She's not perfect, she's flawed, she has shortcomings, she has mistakes in life like the rest of us. The good thing about her is that she tried to fix things even though it would cost her her own happiness. She didn't deny her mistakes, she accepted the consequences and lived through it. That made me loved her despite of her weaknesses.
Sawyer and Beau are the best cousins ever! They loved each other like true brothers and I admired them for so many reasons. I don't want to spill anything about these two boys cos I don't want to spoil your future reading. You'll just have to find out for yourself. The two Vincent boys will make your heart go ponder and your stomach flutter, especially Beau Vincent. You wouldn't want to miss this guy. Your heart will ache for him, care for him, and you'll love him!
The setting and the plot are good and there was never a single moment that I got bored. I really appreciate the narrating style because it let me see both Ash and Beau's thoughts. I always liked the alternating POV style of writing. Overall, it was an entertaining read for me, and I enjoyed every single moment I had with this book. I just loved everything about it. The oh-so-sweet and oh-so-yummy Beau oh-so-sexy love story will keep your eyes on the book and your nose sticking on it too! The drama and the tension are so good, I didn't want to stop reading.
Those who enjoy YA contemporary with a sexy romance that might be suitable only for mature Young Adult readers, then go for this book. I enjoyed it so much and I want more!
