My procedure is:
1. Place the soft face of the weight pad on the side of your ankle so that the metal buckle wraps around the front of your ankle and the tail end wraps around the back of your ankle.
2. Then feed and loop the tail through the buckle on the inside of your ankle and pull it back to tighten the ankle weight on your ankle.
3. Finally, attach the Velcro sticky surface of the tail to the Velcro sticky surface on the center of the weight pad.
4. This procedure should secure the weight pad comfortably to your ankle while performing leg exercises; but I don't recommend wearing weight pads for extensive walking outdoors because the ankle tendons and veins need to be free of any pressure in order to function normally.
While holding onto something with my hand or hands such as a secure ballet bar, I do front knee extensions (front kick), lateral leg abductions, and backward abductions of my entire legs so that the gluteus muscles are exercised. (Watch a ballerina perform her exercises to get an idea.) Exercising with these weight pads has put a spring in my step like nothing else has before, and I now climb stairways with little exertion and also walk or run with more leg power. I prefer this type of exercise with ankle pads because it is more natural than using gym machines which can stress one's knees and associated ligaments and tendons.
I especially recommend these weight pads for the common person, and again I do not recommend any pads for extensive walking because the ankle tendons need to be free when walking any significant distance outdoors.
Update: 8/23/14: I have also discovered how to work the hamstring muscles at the back of the upper legs. I place the weight as above on my ankle and then flex the knee joint by raising my lower leg (foot) backwards, one leg at a time, of course. Also, I stabilize myself by placing my hands on a bar or table. Using the 5-lb. weight, I do repetitions of about 10 - 15 flexes alternatively on each leg. While doing this flex maneuver, it feels like the weight is too little, but I have found that it really strengthens the hamstrings and their nervous control; and together with the above leg exercises, my legs feel stronger and more stable throughout. I encourage those who sit on their hamstrings in front of a computer for prolonged periods to try this exercise.
Update: 4/8/15: I have found that as little as a 15-minute leg workout using the above mentioned series of exercises, makes my legs stronger and more stable for any other activity such as standing, walking, running, biking, swimming, etc. They also provide a short and beneficial, warm-up exercise preparatory to any athletic activity and consequently reduce the chance of injury.
My thought was to wear them either on wrist or ankle.
I have bird wrists, these are wide and bulky, not what I thought they were.
Wrist wearing for strengthening my arms, my goal.
Wearing on the wrist, a no brainer once I had them, it wasn't going to work.
They put on my ankles, I expected the weight. The weight feels good.
I wear them while deep cleaning my house, and or I wear them jumping on my Rebounder.
BOY when you take them off, you truly get the gist on how much " 6lbs" added and removed
really is ON the body.
I have 3lb each free weights, they I use all the time, this how I chose the 3lb ankle weights.
My issue isn't with the product, my issues are my very own ankles. They are small in
circumference, the weights even pulled to the tightest resistance, they float with movement
and or my body heat. This is not the products fault, it's simple math, they are too big.
I measured, my Ankles 9 inches circumference
The padded weight filled material end to end, is 11 inches,
(measure not including any velcro)
For Guys, I can't see them having this issue. These are soft to skin, they are what
they are, 3lb weights for intended use. If you're smaller in ankle/wrist these may
not be your first choice. No hate onto the product, it's the truth.
I like the color, Citron, it matches ironically my 15yr old free weights.
I think they’re perfect for toning and tightening my bum and legs.
I workout every day and since I added extra 8-10 minutes long exercises few times a week and definitely feel the difference!
I use these ankle weights mainly for my glute & abs workout.
I never run wearing 4 lb weights, because it might stress your knees and joints. I recommend this product mainly for strength training, such as leg lifts, pull-ups or bicycle crunches.
What surprised me, the weights seems to be beneficial for my knee pain. It is just important to remember to do all exercises very slowly.
That treasured me that they’d be perfect for rehabilitation as well.
I have these for about a month now and they have worked out very well so far.
They’re comfortable, adjustable and fit my ankle.
They do not leak sand at all and the velcro is tight and strong.
Surprisingly, my skin isn’t irritated too.
Very good quality & price!
I feel like my muscles stating to tighten up already.
Perfect for home exercises or rehabilitation!
