It was very comforting to me to read of the Davinci type having trouble with the hierarchy of society and questioning authority - seeing whats wrong with society while society points the finger at the "mentally ill" for questioning. It was also very comforting to me to discover that this gene type that I have; that has made me talented, adventurous and even reckless is the gene type shared by many revolutionary and successful people.
And I do agree with Garret that the pharmaceutical industry is all about making money. However in my case of dealing with a severe form of Bipolar Disorder type I for 10 years, which is like ADHD on steroids... Medications have saved me from some very disabling times of mania. However, this book did open my eyes very early on in my journey and had me explore alternative treatment and embrace my compulsive nature. Today, I have found balance in my life using vitamin supplementation, exercise and even light doses of medication to stay stable. And because of this book, I no longer question my beliefs on the flaws of society - I accept that I am a Davinci or a Wayseer, an awakened one.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who has suffered from ADHD or Bipolar Disorder - you will find comfort of being who you are.
What attracted me to this book is its premise that ADD types are "different", not broken. It endorses the Hunter/Farmer theme espoused by Thom Hartman.
While the book does not compare ADD to Myers Briggs, I suspect there is a correlation between ADD and such Myers Briggs types of ENFP, ENFJ, etc. I say this as I've done Myers Briggs profiling and am an ENFP. The description to this is very similar to ADD traits. So, I am curious.
I highly recommend the book if for nothing more than its elaborations on what characteristics a person with ADD has.
