The 2014 3rd edition represents a thorough revising and a significant expansion of the 7 year old 2nd edition. It contains nearly 550 new photographs showing over 600 new items, all in full color. The page count has increased by nearly 50, with each and every of the third edition’s 301 pages freshly designed and laid out. If you enjoy the amazing creativity, the rich design elements and the history of Halloween collectibles as so many of us do, you will love browsing the pages and viewing the thousands of items that may bring back warm memories of your own holidays past. This enhanced reference work is a must-have addition to the libraries of collectors at all levels. I have retained those data-rich elements you have come to expect from my years of collecting, researching and writing about the incredible memorabilia related to this fun holiday. Each professionally photographed item is fully captioned - including data such as where and when the item was made, which company made it, manufacturing marks, measurements to the nearest 1/4 inch, a Relative Scarcity Index number, a current market value and additional notes on reproduction alerts, item iterations and other informative data. The specificity of the captioning has been greatly expanded. I was fortunate to have Matthew Kirscht, a New Orleans-based fine artist, not only design each page, making the layout more engaging and logical, but also to have him contribute customized, supplemental artwork throughout the book that lends it a fresh look given his distinctive style. You won’t find generic clip-art anywhere in this new edition. I am so grateful for the positive book reviews I have received from collectors at all levels from around the world. I hope you enjoy Vintage Halloween Collectibles as much as I have enjoyed creating it! The book you order will be signed by me. Buyers will also receive a new copy of a hard-to-find reference I used in writing all my books: Holiday Paper Honeycomb by Jeannette Lasansky.

With trademark tenacity, Mark Ledenbach does a deeper dive into the history, dating, scarcity and years of production of vintage Halloween items than other authors in this field.
This book does 3 things that no other book on vintage Halloween collectibles has done to date. One: it has been designed and illustrated by one of the pre-eminent Halloween artists today, Matthew Kirscht, giving it the look and feel of a coffee table book, as opposed to the cold, clinical, catalogue-like feel that collector books so often possess.
Two: it brilliantly creates sub-sections within the sections, which categorize items by their company of manufacture. This enables the reader to see the distinctive design aesthetics of Beistle, Dennison, and Gibson for instance. By the dating within each manufacturer, you can further see the progression, evolution and in some cases fragmentation of each company’s signature “look” over the years.
Three: the items in this book are photographed and shown on a much larger scale, to reveal the full detail and character of the pieces. This really “pops” in the remarkable celluloid section, as celluloid pieces tend to be more diminutive in size with incredibly imaginative and complex design details.
‘Vintage Halloween Collectibles 3rd Edition combines the research acumen of an encyclopedia, the artistry of a coffee table book, and the passion of a collector. If you are a vintage Halloween collector or plan to be, you owe it to yourself to have this book in your collection. It is information meets inspiration. It will both thrill and inform you.
This is an exemplary work unlike non-other. Masterfully written. The in-depth researched content is concise, the spectacular layout is most comprehensive and well thought out.
The high level photographs compliment the item descriptions with much aesthetic appeal. The crisp color images and excellent quality grade paper provide the clearest and most dependable depictions.
Each meticulously photographed item includes data specific information including country of origin, company name, manufacture dates, specific measurements, reproduction alerts, item iterations, and much much more. Outstanding attention to detail. The crisply designed book has a great feel to it, displays and reads well.
Mark is the most authoritative resource for information on the vintage Halloween collectibles scene today. Entry level collectors to seasoned enthusiasts of this genre turn to Mark's books for expert advice, detailed descriptions and vetted values. His 3rd Edition identification and price guide by far is no exception. This exceedingly exceptional edition is greatly expanded and fully revised.
The collaboration of creative folk artisan Matthew Kirscht is wonderfully appealing and lends a vividly imaginative and fresh spin on the subject matter. Kudos Matt! Very well done!
Inside this book you'll enjoy a variety of collecting areas as well as old favorites. More importantly it includes unique unusual items and heretofore unseen items. Catherine and I are pleased to see our once rarest never before seen examples now residing in Mark's collection and illustrated throughout this book. The majority of these examples having never before been published in previous works profiling vintage Halloween memorabilia.
This is a highly recommended authoritative collectibles reference book and a MUST HAVE for any Vintage Halloween Collector.
Celebrate the most magical season of the year with this sensational treasury.
Splendidly written discourse indeed. Job well done. Bravo Mark!
