Violent Ends (White Monarch Book 2) Kindle Edition
The devil has a name, and it’s Cristiano de la Rosa. On my wedding day, he was the last man I expected to see standing at the altar. He wants to make me his queen. His brother wants to rescue his princess.
Getting Cristiano to lose control becomes the name of the game, and the stakes are life and death. But as truth and lies blur, loyalty is tested, and our chemistry threatens to reach the melting point, the prize grows less clear. Either freedom no longer means what I think it does, or Cristiano is as devious as everyone says, and he’s mastered the art of playing my mind.
All I know for certain is that nothing is certain. And all you need to know?
This is a love story.
But even love stories have to end.
"I write this review with my jaw on the floor!!!! This book was incredible! The level of angst is off the freaking charts; it's super hot, folks!....[Hawkins] delivers highly emotional and notoriously angsty books; I simply can't get enough."--Mandi M, Goodreads
"Cristiano steals the show. This man. I am next level obsessed. For a Cartel leader who shows no emotions, this man was fierce, lethal, and without even trying, completely romantic...The action, the suspense, the passion, the angst. Gah. Jessica has blown my heart and my mind."--Booksandbandanas, Goodreads

I absolutely loved seeing things from Cristiano's perspective. Learning from his conversations with Natalia what rumors are true and which ones aren't. I knew from the beginning that he was the brother I was going to side with, regardless of what he's done in the past or is doing now.
Natalia is very quick to think on her feet and she holds her own against Cristiano, but Por el amor de Dios, I wanted to shake her SO many times! She is holding so steadfastly to things she thinks she knows without any concrete proof, and is so stubborn to not let go of preconceived notions. Oy, I wanted to crawl into the pages of the book and be like, "girl...let's have a chat."
There are twists and turns galore, hints placed that are leading us toward a dramatic conclusion in this explosive series!! The slow burn between Natalia and Cristiano is scorching hot!! I'm trying so hard not to forget anyone or anything as I'm reading because I just know things are going to pop up in book 3 that I wasn't paying attention to along the way and those things are going to rock my socks!!
Jessica has me totally enthralled and invested in the Cartel life! I thought that cliffy we got at the end of book 1 was bad. The cliffy at the end of book 2 nearly made me pee my pants! Jessica is pure evil to leave us like that!! Come on November, I NEED the rest of the story!
Book 1 ended with Cristiano taking a grief-stricken Natalia as his wife after her long-time love, Diego, traded her for protection from a rival cartel. Book 2 focuses on Natalia and Cristiano as they weed through their rocky, dare I say relationship, after the wedding. And it’s a bumpy ride! But in walks the angst, because the chemistry between these two is HOT, HOT, HOT; regardless of how much they like or dislike each other!
The ending though…ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!? As expected in a series and especially coming off book 1, there is a massive cliffhanger on book 2! Hence why I can’t seem to pick my jaw off the floor! Now we wait until November for the conclusion, and I can’t even tell you how I will survive the next 5 months, anxiously waiting for the final chapters in this story!
Jessica Hawkins can do no wrong in my book! I absolutely lover her writing style, where she delivers highly emotional and notoriously angsty books; I simply can’t get enough. Jessica, you slay me girl! I will follow you anywhere!
The emotion mind game was heavier..
Christiano DeLa Rosa, I applauded his patience.. God have Mercy, a complicated man with a big heart. His emotions through the book were slowly emerging. The relationship and bond were different.. its more gritty.. ways to trust each others. The tension was burning! Come on...
Natalia matures more in this book. She forms her own opinions now that she has enough evidence to contrast Diego with Cristiano and who is telling her the truth. Although she trusts no one, she is also able to distinguish lies and betrayal more easily. I liked the honesty between she and Cristiano, even though she's constantly stumped by him because he makes ambiguous comments and then she immediately jumps to unfavorable conclusions. How does she reconcile with who this monster is when she is discovering otherwise?
I loved that there was a lot more Cristiano in this book. He is one heck of a lead male character. Alpha to the core, he carries formidable power and strength with him that makes him a true leader. He has a vulnerable side deep down, too, where his wants are as simple and basic as anyone else's. He respects her while pushing her to be stronger whereas Natalia antagonizes him at every turn, fearful of his next move and motives because he can also be scary (which she's afraid to admit isn't a total turn off). A part of me admired her rebellion because it showed her growing a backbone, but another part of me wanted her to see that she really didn't get the raw end of the deal like she believes because her stubbornness would be her downfall. The sexual tension really ramped up because they have undeniable and explosive chemistry waiting to ignite, no matter how much they are at odds with each other. I knew that I'd love Cristiano from the first book and this one completely seals the deal. There are some important revelations in this one, but I can't wait to find out the answer to the biggest question of all in the final book, and to see what happens between Natalia and Cristiano. Some of the foreshadowing in these 2 books have dropped hints and I need to know if it comes to fruition because it's a game changer. And it wouldn't be a proper cartel story without that cartel style ending! Hurry up November!

The sequel to Violent Delights was slightly faster paced and it had a bit more action though much of the focus was on the character evolution of Natalia and Cristiano and their relationship as they become “end game”.
I have to admit that while I understood Natalia’s fury, disgust and hesitance to believe anything good about Cristiano at the start, I found myself getting more frustrated with her belligerence as he continued to prove that little about his public persona was actually true. He’s not a “good guy” necessarily as he murders and does all the bad things as a kingpin of one of the most notorious cartels would be expected to do, but he’s definitely a much better man compared to Diego! Being in Natalia’s head became quite trying as the narrative got overly repetitive as she waffled on her thoughts about him. I feel like if that aspect was shortened it wouldn’t have dragged, but I think it was still believable progression for how much Natalia loathed him for years.
There is a lot of complexity surrounding family, loss and grief that’s explored in this story and a big part of Cristiano’s arc. He is very alpha but he treats his people with a lot of respect and Natalia like a Queen (mostly) despite her constantly throwing disrespect in his face. There were some possessive alpha moments that made me cringe but for the most part I really liked Cristiano and he and the people of the Badlands made this a more enjoyable read for me! Also, the Badlands and what the Calavera cartel is doing there was one of my favourite parts of the story—I have mad respect for them. When this place was mentioned in the first book I had a feeling that it would look something like this, so it wasn’t entirely unpredictable, but I love when books have this trope? When the public thinks a place hell on earth and it has a horrible reputation when in reality it’s peaceful and the people are living their best lives.
Things don’t get too steamy in this though there were definitely some hot moments! Cristiano is up there with the best of the dirty filthy talkers so if you like those kinda alphas, I think he will definitely be your man. Like, there’s no need for sexy times when you have a mouth like that! 😂
There’s a big cliffhanger at the end that made me glad this series is finished and I can move immediately into the final book. I’m ready for more action pls!
Great sequel, 4 - 4.5 stars.
Still torn between her husband and the man she loves and being affected by her growing attraction to the wrong brother what should nat do.
Good characters and dialogue with the story line gripping and fairly paced.
As the heat between Christiano and Natalia rises so does the danger from the enemy.
For me the first half’s a little slow but once the pace picks up it’s a thrilling and exciting downhill ride all the way to the gripping cliffhanger. I loved it and can’t wait for more!
