The slippers also have a flexible plastic bottom so I can wear them outside to check the mail. I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5 because I'm not a huge fan of the styling. I kind of feel like I'm wearing my grandma's house shoes. It's worth it, but I would have liked something a little cuter.
**Edit: 3 months later and I'm changing my rating to 5 stars. I don't care what they look like. I want to wear them all the time they feel so good. Great slippers.
**Edit: It's 4 years later and I still have these. They're pretty worn out, but still structurally sound. I don't wear them much any more because... my plantar fasciitis is gone! They were a lifesaver in making it so I could get around my house when the pain was at its worst. There were days I thought I'd end up with a walker or a wheelchair, but I'm better now. Tip - If you frequently sit in a recliner with your feet hanging off the edge or toes pointed - think about changing the way you sit. Making that one adjustment changed my life.
I'm back here today getting a pair of these slippers for my mom for her birthday.
Best of luck to all of you with your foot pain!
Years of running marathons and I can no longer stand to go barefoot. These slippers are great. I only ever wore orthotics in running shoes. I just wore socks around the house and my feet were achy. I thought I would give these a try. At first it was a strange feeling. Now they are the first thing I slip on getting out of bed. When you first start wearing them I would suggest only an hour here or there. I felt pain from everything being in the correct alignment because everything had been so out of alignment for so long. After your body gets used to being aligned properly, you really feel a difference when you don't have them on. I never want to be without these. I am going to use the old pair for traveling. As I do not want to wear in my home what I wear through hotel rooms.
Sizing: I wear a 9 ½ shoe. A 10 in running shoe. I wear a 10 in these. I would suggest half sizes to size up rather than down.
Comfort: If you are looking for a soft, plush, cozy slipper this is not it. If you have ever had a custom orthotic made that is what these are like. They are going to feel more like a house shoe.
Cons: This particular pair seems to have some loose glue under the fabric. So on one foot when I walk the heel is crunching. Giving it a couple of days to see if it smashes flat or if I am going to send back for a replacement.
This pair also has a tag sewn in the inside. Not sure why they decided to add that? My other pair does not have a tag. For some people it may irritate. I usually have socks on so it doesn't bother me but, I think it was a bad move to add that.
