Let me preface that by saying that I have flat feet and have recently developed plantar fasciitis. so I've been spending a ton of money buying new running shoes (ON Running) and work shoes (mostly Earthies) with high arch support to take the pressure off of my heels. The comfort level of this shoe far surpasses any other shoe I've ever worn.
I normally wear a 7.5-8, depending on the shoe, but followed the advice of other reviewers to size down. The 7 fit perfectly.
The sole does not feel as hard as the Aruba by Vionic (which I also purchased), so there's no period of adjustment necessary. The ankle strap makes it comfortable for all-day wear and miles of walking. Unlike my other sandals, it seems to spit out pebbles, so you never have something uncomfortable in your shoe. I packed the Aruba by Vionic, the Catarina, running shoes, and a pair of hiking sandals for the trip, and the Catarina won hands down. I even opted to hike to the top of a Mayan temple in the Catarina sandals over everything else. I was hesitant at first to wear them in the sand because of the suede sole, but they were too comfortable to wear anything else! Despite the wear and tear of my rainforest/ beach adventures, the shoes still look impeccable.
One month later, these are the shoes I put on after being on my feet all day in Earthies or my million dollar "supportive" sneakers. These sandals alone make me a Vionic fan. Definitely coming back to buy some winter-appropriate shoes.
Review update: My foot seems to slide down the shoe, causing my toes to hang off the front edge, which I hate when that happens. This also causes my arch to be further down than it should be so the arch support does not really hit in the right place so the whole point of having the arch support is lost. The straps across the toes create irritation so there is no way that I can wear the shoes 2 days in a row. I'm constantly adjusting the placement of my feet so the shoes fit properly. I just don't understand why this company won't make half sizes.

The look of this shoe is really great, but the foot tends to pitch forward missing the arch supports as they are intended. Read morePublished 3 months ago by Joan
I love the shoe, but it runs small. They didn't have a larger size.
I buy this size all the time, but this shoe was too short and wider than most - my foot slips forward.
Straps are loose, foot tends to slip over toe end ... heel feels odd inside; like foot is crookedPublished 11 months ago by A. Collins
These shoes were too large for my feet. They did not touch the top of my foot anywhere. Admittedly, I do have a somewhat narrow foot. I had to return these.Published 11 months ago by Haley
