Got this to hold an iPad pro 12.9" version. Works great for this. The stand is all metal and the base is heavy enough to keep it quite stable with no risk of tipping over. The iPad clamp itself is all plastic though, plenty sturdy for holding the big iPad or a phone, just treat it kindly. Since it's not metal you could break it if you handle it too roughly.
You adjust the tightness of the joints with an Allen wrench (included) but I really wish they had just put knobs on the joints instead as a wrench is never handy when you want to make a quick adjustment.
Only downside I have noticed so far is that the arm is kind of "springy". That is with the weight of a large iPad on it, when you get to tapping the screen it bounces up and down a little. The joints do NOT slip, there is just some springiness in the metal itself.
