Top Customer Reviews
If you don't have much money and you want a decent phone, go with the Stylo 2. If you have a little extra to spend and want something with a little more speed, the Stylo 3 is the way to go.
I'll definitely purchase my next cell phone through this company.
The LG Stylo 3 is so fast, clear, and lightweight. It's extremely light! I thought it was a fake when I opened the package.
The delivery service was extremely fast as well!
Improvements over the Stylo 2 include an Octa-Core processor, versus the Stylo 2's Quad-Core. The camera sensors are better on this one versus that one so pictures are a bit better although the mega pixels have not changed; this phone comes with HDR, panorama mode, and steady recording for videos. The Stylo 3 has a fingerprint sensor which is nice. The RAM and internal memory (2GB Ram, 16GB internal storage, about 9GB usable after disabling and uninstalling the bloatware apps) is unchanged from the Virgin Mobile Stylo 2 to this Stylo 3. The Stylo 3 screen has a different tuning than the Stylo 3, and tries to look a bit more like an AMOLED display; this phone has darker blacks and more popful colors than the Stylo 2; I believe the screen temperature is just warmer on this one. The build is different than the Stylo 2, and has the screen glass resting inside the phone frame, rather than on top of the phone frame on the Stylo 2. The volume buttons have been moved to the top left of the phone, leaving only the fingerprint sensor/power button on the back. The battery in this phone is 3200mah, and is using the same battery as the LG V20 this time, versus the 3000mah battery in the Lg Stylo 2. This phone also has the latest cell tower bands versus the LG Stylo 2. The Stylus itself is much more like a pen on the Stylo 3 than the Stylo 2's as well. This phone also has a gyroscope! So you can watch those fancy 3-D videos on YouTube by turning your phone every which way.
If I have a Stylo 2, I don't think I'd pay $150 to upgrade to this; I'd definitely pay $100, but not $150. But if you have the Stylo 1, or even worse, no Stylo at all, this will feel every bit of the $150 you paid for it. It's fast, and running the same android version as these 900 dollar flagships, and it's a very speedy phone. I'd recommend a case and screen protector as usual, and I recommend the new model Samsung EVO Select (U3) micro SD card to go with this phone for all your photos, music, and other items. MAKE SURE YOU GET THE U3 NEW MODEL! It's a very very fast micro SD card. Leave the internal storage for all of your apps, and put your media on that SD card. You should never have problems running out of space if you do this. You can buy a micro SD up to 2TB with this phone so it's heavily future-proofed. The phone has a removable battery and micro SD card slot, obviously. The whole point of the micro SD slot is so that you can add the space suitable for your needs. I've had no issues with this phone freezing, or locking up, or restarting, or any of that nonsense.
HOW TO UNINSTALL BLOATWARE AND MAXIMIZE INTERNAL STORAGE:
Once you activate the phone, Virgin auto installs their carrier bloat as usual. Go to Settings, then go to Apps. Start off by uninstalling all the apps that the phone lets you uninstall. After that, now I'll tell you about how to handle the apps that you cannot uninstall. For example, the app "Amazon Kindle" cannot be uninstalled, so instead you follow this process: First, uninstall updates for the app. Then disable the app. AFTER disabling the app, scroll down and press clear data. The app will stay in the list, but the app is disabled, won't run in the background the phone, won't show up in the app drawer, and best of all, will only us about 40 kilobytes of space, which is basically nothing at all. Repeat this process for any apps that you cannot fully uninstall. After doing this for all the apps I didn't use I had easily almost 9GB of free space to install apps that I actually used. After putting my standard load of apps on the phone I still have over 6GB of space for apps. Like I said, just make sure music and photos go on an SD card and you will have no issues with space.
I recommend Mr. Shield screen protectors, because they have the best warranty, and are the most helpful for me. The other items like the SD card I recommended, various Mr. Shield screen protectors and some long charging cables I'll also link to:
