Overall, I found the “Virgin’s Promise” a difficult read for so many reasons. First and foremost, the writing needs quite a bit of work. It was quite problematic from a grammatical perspective with issues throughout the brief novella. Concerns include but were not limited to; improper sentence structure, run on sentences, incorrect comma usage as well as inappropriate word usage and I don’t mean bad language. I kind of suck at grammar myself (especially punctuation) so for me to notice it was relatively obvious.
The story did not flow very smoothly and I found myself often confused (sort of like missing time?) requiring the rereading of entire passages. The novella was fairly short but it felt much longer which I attribute to the frequent rereading. I failed to establish a connection to either character making it difficult to become engaged in the story. Collin did not appear the least bit dominant (he made fun of her messy eating, like what!?) and Laurel… perhaps a bit juvenile? The intimate encounters were lackluster and entirely forgettable. The premise of the novella is BDSM… except there is absolutely none in it! The exception is a brief mention of toy’s hanging on a wall (not even his) a playroom (I think) and the recollection (in passing) of being tied to a bed. In my estimation “The Virgin’s Promise” simply failed to deliver… on its promise.

They clicked, more than they expected to. Collin chose Laurel for a three month contract. Enjoy the rest of this hot and spicy read as they get to know each other, the sensual needs they have, and how they fit together. The story includes some lighter BDSM, but not too wild. They quickly moved to love for each other (quicker than I would have liked in the tale), and Collin smoothed things for Laurel's future. Still, plenty of heat, heart-ache, and HEA. The book has decent editing to remove distractions. I received an advanced reader copy of this novel for an honest review.
I really wanted to like this short novella. I really did! The book has an interesting plot and starts out well, then just goes blah😕.
The xxx descriptions are vague and poorly described. The BDSM✋ that was promised by Collin🐺🍌🌋✋, the handsome, rich, alpha that buys Laurel💋💃, the trained , courtesan virgin, never happens.
Laurel💋💃 is sold at an auction at the brothel she lives in, and it is never revealed if she gets any of the money or even how much money she sold for.
The xxx scenes read like a pg film. The clothed, standing couple are embracing and there's a bed in the background. The scene ends there and cuts to The next scene where they're eating breakfast. That's about it.
The entire book is vaguely written and the author doesn't make us feel the two characters don't have any real connection to each other.
I know the author has written a large number of books, but This one is awful. It's like she was just going through the motions.
I cannot recommend this book to anyone, it's a waste of time....
No ponies🐎 for this 🐕dog.
