3.7 3.7 out of 5 stars 8 ratings

The wheel has turned full circle and “The Cloud” is all the rage again. Back at the turn of the century the virtual craze resulted in a literal economic recession. This time around, virtualization is here to stay. Huge companies like Amazon and Microsoft have invested heavily in virtualization technology proving that it is a viable business. Virtualization is not only for large businesses however, and more and more hobbyist computer users are getting involved.

This book will give you, the complete beginner, detailed instructions on how to obtain VirtualBox, install it on either Windows or Linux, detailed instructions on how to create your first virtual machine, and an exhaustive explanation of all the features and options you will have when interacting with virtual machines. It is written in plain English and is direct to the point so as to give you the information you need without wasting any of your time.

I have been a programmer and computer enthusiast all my life. In elementary school my father often brought home a computer from the school he taught at during long breaks. This was my first introduction to computers in general and DOS and gaming specifically. Back then, Indianapolis 500: The Simulation was, to me, the epitome of electronic gaming.

My first exposure to programming was in high school. Sometime around my sophomore year I purchased a second-hand Texas Instruments TI-82 calculator. It wasn't long before I found the built-in program editor and started experimenting. I've been programming nearly non stop since then. A programming class was offered my senior year, which I eagerly signed up for. Finishing the coursework in about 2 months (it was suppose to be a year long course) I set out to learn several more programming languages. By the end of the year I was helping the teacher resolve bugs in the salutatorian's code, was proficient in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and had started learning Visual Basic.

After graduating high school, attending Purdue University for a degree in Computer Science seemed like the next logical step. Now I work for a large corporation as a software engineer as well as writing software for my wife's business and creating web site for local businesses.

It has bad formatting, doesn't play well in android 4.2... the pages render like 3 words a line in a tight group, narrow column in the center of screen.. its useless on a tablet so wait till they fix it b4 buying. The actual text is greatly informative on the setup and a bit about the use of VM's, a good noobs book on the VM world. If you are curious enough to be reading this then you might want to take a look at this book, it will fill in some gaps. (It did for me)
