You’re bound to catch a glimpse of someone you know in these interviews. Maybe even a reflection of yourself.
Some of these Visionaries were new to me; some familiar. I learned something from each conversation that helped me reflect on my own post-sixty-five path. I gained wisdom, courage, and a renewed sense of purpose. I know that you will too.
As someone approaching my elder years, Visionaries Have Wrinkles changed my own expectations for what's ahead at every level, emotional, intellectual, physical, and spiritual. Reading the book was like an initiation, a rite of passage, hearing what the wise grandmothers have to teach me about my future as a member of the grandmother group--and in a real way, and earthy way, a true way. How it might have been, and might yet be, for women to learn directly from each other about our own lives. It made me realize that the women who have gone before me have already reshaped what my future can be because of how they lived their own lives.
This is not a book to read all at once, but better savored, one conversation at a time, to get the whole deep and inspiring experience. But read it. Read it if you are a younger woman to get the real roadmap for your journey from the women who lived it. Read it if you are one of the emotionally courageous men of our time who is truly committed to gender equality. Read it whatever your profession or sexual orientation or personal passion to learn what rich, fulfilling lives lived truly are made of.
Turning 55 or 65 or 80 holds a paradigm today, not of retirement, tucked away in the country, but of entering new eras of wisdom sharing, respect for ourselves, continuous learning and contribution to society that is seeking our wisdom and knowledge.
Karen interviews remarkable women in this book... Remarkable? Yes. Different than you and I? Not necessarily. What they share in these stories touched my soul, gave me permission to allow my uniqueness and inner beauty to blossom through the dreams I wish to realize at this new stage in my life. 55 is only the beginning of my middle years... So many passibilities and so much time ahead! So much opportunity!
Thank Karen for creating so much awareness of value for my life through this book! ...and all the nuggets of wisdom that nurture the soul and spirit.[[ASIN:098492602X Visionaries Have Wrinkles: Conversations With Wise Women Who Are Reshaping the Future
