Wolf Alice is the best new rock band I have heard in this latest decade, the 2010s. I have (almost) only good things to say about this album. The track that grabbed my attention first was `Don`t Delete the Kisses` which got me to remember when I was younger and falling in love time and again. Good memories. That is also the track I can use to best effect in getting others to listen to the band as well. (A girl I have met just once while waiting for the bus thanked me later when she got off the bus a few stops before me as she had listened to the song while taking the bus. And this is just one of many occasions I have turned on people to music I have sensed could appeal to them.) But I will appeal please no more white printed lyrics on grey background, I had a ahard time seeing the words using both glasses and magnifying glass. And another thing is I like that the vocals are mixed more upfront, their first album`s vocal mix was better in that respect. Ellie Rowsell`s voice and vocals are formidable cool, indeed. The title track `Visions of a Life` is a stunning finale on a very, very good rock album. Finally, I hope they will release anew album in a not distant future. So here`s all the best to the future from Snorre Fjær.

This is the best new band in the world without a doubt. Un-compartmentalize-able. Ellie Rowsell's voice is a miracle; Joff Oddie orchestrates as much as he plays the guitar; Joel Amey besides being a killer drummer sings great and Theo Ellis is a bass player with swagger and an inspired harmonic sense. Buy this and the first (My Love Is Cool) as well - the world needs to hear this band... then go and see them live and hear how they do it on stage.

I'm an old fart and I like these guys. Heads above most new music today. Also I agree with some of the other reviews that say the more I listen the more I like it. The first time I listened to it I thought ...wow this is not nearly as good as their first. But the more I heard it the better I like it.

This is the music I listen to when I go trail running into the woods. I really enjoyed their first album and I think I am enjoying this one even more. Like the last album the songs are quite varied. One thing I really appreciate about Wolf Alice is their songs don't all sound the same. As a collection the songs on Vision of A Life seem more sophisticated or complex. Sort of like they are experimenting and pushing themselves as musicians. It is what you would hope for in a second album. I was fortunate enough to see them live in small venues in Seattle (2015 & 2016) and I was disappointed they didn't include Seattle in their current tour. Looking forward to their future work...

Great band. "Reminds me" of 'The Sundays' mixed with U2? Some soft tunes. Some rocker tunes. All very clever and fun. Should be #1 but the charts are all messed up and unreliable now. Singer has a sweet voice and her band is progressive and appropriate. Really want to see them live but they don't seem to tour much but Euro festivals which sucks. This band would be perfect on a theater tour across the USA. Looking forward to a lot more music from them. I really hope they are making the money they deserve!!!!

I have recently discovered Wolf Alice and they have quickly become one of my favourite bands. This album is a bit of a departure from their first one but it is just as good if not better. Great songwriting and Ellie's voice is the icing on the cake. Listen and you will too become a fan! Wolf Alice is proof that there are still some great new bands out there, can't wait to hear more from them.

I've been a Wolf Alice fan for a long time now. Once you discover a group like this you always have the anticipation and the delight and thrill whenever they come out with some more music. THANK YOU Wolf Alice. It is so great when you get an album where you can enjoy every song and also just hear the amazing creativity put forth. This album is A RARE GEM that I will enjoy playing over an over. This only happens with very good rock musicians (you can name some groups I'm sure). But I must say - the album is even better than I could imagine. I love that!

When you listen to music and it brings your mind to wonder you know it's good and that is just what this does so many times. There is no question that Ellie's voice matched with the great rock band musicians - who indeed are so great: Joff on guitar, Theo on Bass, and Joel on drums is what defines "Wolf Alice".

Back during the emergence of Rock and as Rock defined itself - way way back - there was a lot of great bands - but since the 90s there's been a steep decline - and I'm so glad whenever I discover a group that keeps the music alive - and this is what Wolf Alice does for me.

This album is fantastic, but for me it was the type of album whose songs creep up on you – they continue to get better each time you listen to them. At first, none of the songs stood out to me the way Moaning Lisa Smile, Bros, or Your Loves Whore did on My Love is Cool – more of the songs on this album have a softer, introspective sound that makes the whole album flow together really well. But now, after listening to the album five times through, every song stands out on its own and each is completely beautiful. For me, this was a great progression while still holding onto the sound that made me fall in love with My Love is Cool. While there is no direct comparison to Moaning Lisa Smile on this album, there is still an excellent and varied selection: there are a handful of shoegaze-esque songs (Heavenward, Don’t Delete the Kisses, Sky Musings, St. Purple and Green) that fans of Bros will probably love, a couple of upbeat rock songs (Beautifully Unconventional, Space & Time) that fans of Freazy will like, and a few harder songs (Yuk Foo, Formidable Cool, the second half of Sad Boy) that fans of Giant Peach will like. Plus, the album ends with Visions of a Life which is an ever-changing conglomeration of all their favorite styles and it's absolutely incredible. In short, if you liked My Love is Cool, I bet you’ll really come to like Visions of a Life if you give it a few listens!

Like some of the other reviewers, I wasn’t sure on the first listen, but then it starts to grow...and grow...and grow, and now it’s one of my favourites. I don’t know if you’re the same as me, but all my favourite albums grow in that way. Albums that I like on the first listen rarely have enough depth to sustain interest. For me this album really gets going with Don’t Delete the kisses, and then builds with Planet Hunter, Formidable Cool. Space\Time, Sadboy and St Purple are great songs and the Visions of a Life finale is a delicious conclusion

I have played this numerous times now, and it's definitely a grower. I loved the first album, so was wary that this would not be as good. If anything, I slightly prefer this one, purely because the music sounds more mature. Each track stands out in its own way, and there is a great mix of fast punky style tracks, and more melodic progressive style pieces. All well put together, by a really tight sounding group. The main thing for me is the vocals. The lead singer has a great range, and uses different styles on each track. She is belting out the rocky tracks one minute, then singing the slower tracks with softer "folky" style.

Tracks 2 through to 5 and to a lesser extent tracks 8 through to 10 are in their diversity the core of the album. The rest are 3 stars fillers. "Planet Hunter" is a beautiful dream pop ballad, "Beautifully Unconventional " is the best Franz Ferdinand single ever, while "Don't Delete The Kisses" and "Space & Time" are remarkable songs. However, the overall impression is that the collection fades and wanes in its second half. By the way, if you ever loved Grace Slick's voice you better skip "After The Zero Hour".

Very rare these days to get goosebumps when listening to a new record; equally rare to know within five or six listens that it's a record you'll be listening to for the rest of your life. Quite a varied sound (track 8 sounds like Blondie- that was when the goosebumps started) without being in any way showy. In fact, the whole thing fits together perfectly. Thank God for genuine talent- stands out like diamond in a sea of crud.
