This book was recommended to me by a friend and he made it sound like a must read piece of work. Well, it was all that he said and more! Visions of Heaven and Hell causes those who believe in life after death to think about the consequences we will endure for our actions and reactions to the experiences we have in our present lives and also how small we really are in realation to the universe around us. I would recommend this book to anyone who thinks that their life is perfect and totally fulfilled, having any and every materialist thing they ever desired. Believe me, after reading this book, you will find that the most important thing one can and should desire is an intimate relationship with God.

This work was written by George Larkin and published in 1711 with the title "The World to Come; The Glories of Heaven and the Terrors of Hell." It was later published as "The Visions of John Bunyan" and in the 19th century included in some collected works of Bunyan under the title of "The World to Come; The Glories of Heaven and the Terrors of Hell." However, it has long been known to have been written by Larkin more than 20 years after Bunyan died.

At a time in my life I desperately needed some affirmation that God and His heavenly host were real...I heard this book being referenced on a Christian TV channel and purchased it on Amazon. The affirmation I needed was found within it's pages.
Although the book is short, in comparison to others, and the language antiquated(which one would expect, considering the age of this writing)the pages are priceless and contain mental pictures that will resonate within any true Spirit-filled believer. There is only one Holy Spirit, and He always bears witness to the TRUTH. The Truth in this treasure chest, brought me to tears of joy, as I received the affirmation I so badly needed and was taken on a journey with this 17th century author that had all the earmarks of being an absolutely real experience, and not just some concocted notion or self-proclaimed vision. It explains why the dark angel fell, why a third followed him, why he is so jealous and aggressive towards mankind, what the difference(in clear, pictorial terms)is between the 2nd and 3rd heavens(with a vivid mental description too real to ignore)and the mystery of whether our bodies will be spiritual or flesh and blood(as some believe), when we ascend into heaven to be with the Lord during the rapture.

Someone can lie about the truth...but it will always feel like something's missing to you instinctively,
Someone can present a lie AS the truth, but somehow, it will never resonate or click with you deep inside,
The Holy Spirit within me bears witness to the TRUTH conveyed in this book by it's author.
There is no other book like it, and to me, no other spiritual experience so aptly portrayed...and as it is said...
TRUTH IS INDEED, STRANGER THAN FICTION!!!

John Bunyan writes in awesome and special ways that makes you "feel the part and live" what he writes. As you read you get drawn into the vividness and reality of what is written. I have read many of his books and have yet to be disappointed in any of them. His visions are clear and enough to make anyone understand it.

Great descriptions of heaven and hell, not made up, but an actual visitation and it conincides with other peoples visits to heaven and to hell. My suggestion, choose life, choose Jesus, choose heaven.

Wow John Bunyan wrote some incredible books and this is one of them. I can't say enough about this book except I am grateful and changed for having read it. Its a life changer and I would implore all who are or aren't Heaven bound to read it. Its a must read for all!

The first half of this little book John Bunyan takes you up to Heaven and shows you around. Most of Heaven we cannot understand while we are in these earthly bodies, so it is a very limited trip. The second half you are taken to Hell and he shows you some of the horrors of Hell. Such as, what makes Hell, Hell? Answer: it is eternal, forever, you never get out, and you will have a mind that remembers. You do not want to go there!

Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Yours in Christ,

Alex

For those sojourners in this life who are seeking after higher realms of truth, this book is for you. Although he lived centuries before our time, John Bunyan went through fiery trials perhaps more difficult than many of us ever had, or ever will, in our lifetimes. If you ever feel alone in the world and without a friend, be encouraged in the reading of this book. The bottom line: Jesus Christ cares and truly rewards all those who seek Him diligently, no matter how dark the trials may seem at the time. This book is not for the faint-hearted.
