Beware! The product has changed and Vital Proteins will not respond privately!

After a few months of loving this product, I purchased a container with contents completely different than I was used to. I always purchased this from my local grocery store and never had any issues. However, this last batch is completely different!

Usually the product has no taste and dissolves easily into my coffee. This time, I noticed that it was much thicker and not tasteless. I reached out to Vital Proteins directly and in 6 days the only response I have received was asking me where I purchased my canister from. There was no explanation, no follow up (even though I asked again if this was okay and normal), and I find this extremely unprofessional and unacceptable.

I came on amazon to see if anyone else experienced this issue and of course, there are other accounts. My husband and I have noticed that this batch has made our skin very itchy and did not produce any of the same benefits (such as stronger nails) that it used to. I urge Vital Proteins to take these claims seriously so others do not have the same experience with a bad batch. Sadly, they don’t seem to care.

Worth Every Penny

I absolutely love this product! I am on my third tub and even though I started seeing benefits from taking this within two weeks, I wanted to really give it a chance to do its thing. I started taking this for skin health and a hopeful reduction in fine lines. I have taken collagen before, both a popular powdered marine collagen formula (that is pretty popular on Instagram) and one that sources it's collagen from chicken and comes in a pill form. I took the marine collagen for at least 3-4 months and made it a couple months with the other one. This has given me far superior results to the others. First I will say that this dissolves just beautifully in warm liquids. I add it to my coffee in the morning and my tea in the evening. I also think that this is pretty much completely tasteless. There is no odor when opening the container and it is nearly undetectable in a beverage, especially once you get used to drinking it. I love that it helps keep me a little more full between meals while boosting the nutrition value of beverages I like to enjoy daily. As for my results, I started seeing increased nail growth in the first couple of weeks. And I really mean increased growth, not just marginally noticeable results. My nail growth was outpacing the longevity of my nail polish which I was pretty excited about it. The next thing I noticed was my hair was growing faster. I didn't measure but feel convinced that I experienced faster hair growth than I would have had I not been taking it. About 6-8 weeks into taking this collagen twice a day I noticed my lash growth was unreal. They were considerably longer and much fuller looking...other people noticed so it wasn't just wishful thinking on my part. Lastly, I have noticed right about the 3 month mark that my skin is definitely smoother. I would say I notice about a 30% decrease in the appearance of fine lines. I haven't made any changes to my skincare routine so I can safely attribute the change to the collagen. I can't speak to any digestive benefits as I didn't suffer with any issues prior to taking this product. I truly love taking this collagen and consider it an essential part of my daily routine. Highly recommend!

*EDIT 9/11/16* The last couple of months I thought I would drop down to just a single scoop serving per day and I feel that I can absolutely notice a difference in my results. My nails don't grow quite as quickly and even though my lashes still look nice, they are not quite as full looking as they were before. For me the most noticeable is my skin - it doesn't feel or look quite as plump and smooth which is a bit of a drag. Your mileage may vary, but for me I need to take this twice a day to get the results I want and to maintain them.

*EDIT 10/1/17* I have faithfully been using Vital Proteins collagen since I wrote the initial review. I switched over to their marine collagen formula because I had heard from a friend the type of collagen derived from fish scales is easier to absorb in the body. I couldn't really tell if the absorption was better but after several months on the marine collagen I can say that I did not feel I saw the same results as I did with this product. Most noticeable is that I felt my hair growth returned to what it was before collagen and my lashes weren't nearly as long and full. Kind of disappointing to be honest. The marine formula is a good product but just doesn't work for me as well as this one does. It is also more expensive and doesn't last as long as a tub of this does. I am testing out a plant based collagen so I'll see what the results are with that the next little bit. If I go back to animal derived collagen I know I will be coming right back to this product and I won't be experimenting anymore. This has still given me the best results to date.

Got a bad batch

I've bought this product from the same seller for awhile. Just received another today and it was sealed like normal but the powder immediately looked off to me. It was a light yellow/off white color and was much more course then the normal fine powder!

A lot of people are saying this is expensive compared to other brands, but this actually just contains more collagen and protein per serving. I have attached a breakdown below comparing Axe, Vital Proteins, Sports Research, and Great Lakes. I doubled the servings for the others so they would be around the same amount Vital Proteins provides of collagen and protein per serving. Overall, Vital Proteins is $1.46/serving with 20g collagen and 18g protein per serving. Sports Research is $1.40 per serving for 22g collagen and 20g protein, a little better deal, but they were the two best values of Collagen Peptides out there. Axe does not contain nearly as much collagen and protein as the others when you double the servings to meet Vital Proteins serving size. Overall I think I will stick to the Vital Proteins since it provides 28 servings so I will only have to order every month and I know it's grass fed, pasture raised beef.

My skin broke out terribly in the 3 days that I took this product

This product made my face break out with tiny red bump-like pimples. I have never in my life struggled with acne. The only thing I had done differently was to add this to my diet. It does, however, add and mix well with coffee, no smell problem for me. I didn't notice a strong taste either. I agree it's mostly tasteless and odorless.
I wanted so badly to love this product. It didn't work for me. I think the benefits would be amazing, I did feel better in just the three days that I was taking it. The bumps on my face got worse with each day. I then cut it out of my diet and the bumps went away by the second day being off of it.
I'm really sad that I cannot take it. I believe it's a great product. It just didn't work for me and my skin. I went ahead and ordered a marine collagen peptide, it should be here today. I will update my post if anyone is curious about it. (It was a lot of digging through the internet finding other people that had the same thing happen while adding bovine collagen peptides to their diet. It was not a common reaction, but, their were a large amount of others who had experienced the same thing while taking bovine derived collagen)
