It tells how to solve lower back pain and reduce trauma through understanding the physical, emotional and spiritual ramifications of this muscle, offering in-depth illustrations and key stretching and strengthening routines that incorporate the use of yoga or pilates.”

It's specific to the psoas..but having read this book, I want EACH AND EVERY muscle
written about in this manner! I LOVE this book, refer to it OFTEN, and won't part with it, EVER!
Working on the psoas with Pilates has quieted quite a lot of my back and hip pain and stiffness.
If your back, hips and general mobility is impaired or painful, I recommend you get this book and
PAY ATTENTION! For me... It's a [quality of] LIFE SAVER!
I have titanium rods, screws, pins and plastic cages in my lower spine and this book has helped tremendously. I can't do all of the proposed exercises in the book, but the ones I can do have significantly stopped that horrible, grinding and shooting pain from sciatica. Try it, stick with it and you will see results in a week or less. The colored illustrations of the human body and exercises and instructions are wonderful. My chiropractor loves this book, too!

What the book does contain is lots of exercises and yoga postures. Lots. Probably too many if you just want a simple routine. It also covers the physiology with good diagrams and illustrations. Sadly some descriptions are in technical language, so although the author states in the intro that she wants to 'make the material accessible to a larger audience, in a way it can be understood,' I think adding a small appendix would have enabled that.
If you have no curiosity about emotional or spiritual aspects and simply want the physical aspects, exercises and are willing to get your head around the language, you will find the book useful. I am going to buy the original psoas book now and hope that is more enlightening.
