We keep these in the cabinet to add a therapeutic dose of vitamin D3 any time that we are feeling sick (cold, flu, etc.) With the added vitamin D3 and high doses of vitamin C (8,000 mg to 15,000 mg -- whatever amount gets you to saturation--usually when the stomach starts to gurgle a bit), we are feeling good to go within a day or two. A therapeutic dose of vitamin D3 is 1000 iu per pound of body weight a day for three to seven days. I weigh 120 lbs., so I take two of these little guys and two tiny gelcaps of 10,000 iu. We don't want to be without this.
As an added note, you need to remember to take vitamin K2 (the MK-7 type) along with the vitamin D3. It helps the calcium in your blood get to where it needs to go--your bones and muscles, not left in your veins and arteries!

The capsules are easy to swallow, does not leave a bad aftertaste, and they were affordable for the amount that’s included. Prior to losing health insurance, I was given a prescription for the same dosage/iu amount of D3 and was advised to take once a week; which was only 4 gel capsules and the cost was $4. For this price on Amazon I receive more without the hassle of having to pay a copay to see my doctor or have items sent to a pharmacy. I’ll report back after a month of usage.

Review from a health nut friend (I edited), who used my account when she first ordered a few years ago:

This is the only product that sells at high dosage in such a small capsule at the best price.

It's easily absorbed and tasteless. All my capsules have come intact and I've been ordering for two years.
The shipments have been timely.

I've noticed an improvement in my health and energy since taking these, even though I eat healthy and exercise regularly. I have had shortfalls in my Vitamin D3 levels occasionally in the past.

I first read about the benefits of high dosage Vitamin D3 from reading self-published books from Amazon.

The below authors recommend that you take Vitamin K to ensure that Vitamin D goes into your bones, instead of calcifying your arteries.

I take Triple Vitamin K in veg capsule form to cover all the bases, as there's a debate on which form of K is best for Vitamin D (from Amazon: "Vitamin K - Triple Play" by Bronson, 180 vegetarian capsules bottle).

Vitamin D is also supposed to help fight colds and viruses.

DR. ERIC BERG, D.C. has unique and interesting health videos on UTube.

Watch his video on Vitamin D which features his chart (from 10,000 iu to 300,000 iu) of the various dosages' effects, what's toxic and what's safe.

WARNINGS:

You must consult with your physician before taking any supplements, as your individual health needs and medications may contradict taking such high dosage Vitamin D3, along with the below authors' other recommendations on additional supplements to take with high dose D3.

Two of the crucial supplements to take are: Magnesium and Potassium, according to the authors, among other recommendations.

You should be aware that Magnesium and/or Potassium and cause stomach upset in some people.

You MUST monitor yourself with blood tests when taking any megadoses.

High Vit D dosages can make your Calcium levels too high, which is dangerous and painful, causing heart rhythm problems.

High Vit D doses can also cause electrolyte imbalances.

Make sure that all your blood levels are regularly monitored and normal according to your doctor.
