I was a bit concerned because some of the reviews said these were not good, not fresh, a lot of stems/twigs and what not mixed in with berries, this and that... But, the other brand I've been buying for years was out of stock forever, and I needed my berries. So, I decided to give these a try as it was the best option at the time. And, I am glad I did! And, let me tell you - these are great! The berries are fresh and they smell divine! My elderberry syrup is tastier than ever! And, no stems or any of the things people say these berries are full of. Just perfect little berries. Yum!

Elderberry syrup is a staple in our house. We always have some on hand. It is so, so, so good for fighting nasties. Magical little berries them elderberries are!

Fast improvement of arthritic fingers.

These are one of the best things I have purchased in years. They arrived quickly and I immediately made Elderberry Syrup. I made enough to give my 85 y/o mother some as well. She took 1 TBSP a day for a week and told me that her arthritic thumb, which she had never been able to close without forcing it had improved so much she can now open and close her fist without pain or without manually having to move the thumb. My 89 y/o dad them tried it and reported similar results on his index finger. I then ordered another bag so my mom could make her own syrup and continue taking it. I hope this fall we will also see decreased symptoms from colds and flus, but that still remains to be seen. I will buy this again when I run out.

Great berries for healthy syrup

This was a great value for making elderberry syrup. The berries had a few little things like stalks that I picked out, but it was not a substantial amount like other sources I have tried. Syrup turned out great, and tasted like the stuff you buy on the shelf when some sweetener was added. I used honey after boiling, but I must have had too much water still in the syrup because it fermented after a week on the counter! I opened up the mason jar and fsssss pop! There was definitely some pressure to it, so be careful to make sure that you reduce the water out of it enough when making with honey (and heat the sweetness with it). The best way to do this is with a candy thermometer, and the sweet water is over 212 deg F. I stored mine in the fridge after that, and I didn't have any more issues.

Overall, a great way to keep colds and flu's down while making juice and water extra tasty. Sweetened, it doesn't taste like medicine, but it sure acts like it in our house. I use this every day when people come home sick, and it is a tasty kick to keep you from being sick.

Best way to Take Elderberry Syrup!

I am very pleased with the purchase of Viva Elderberries. They make an exceptional elderberry syrup (instructions on the package). The cost is much more effective than buying already made syrup. The flavor of the finished product is delicious and it's made only with the berries and raw honey: no fillers, no alcohol, or sugar substitues of any kind. I highly recommend this company and product. One extra word: Yes, the berries do have a very small amount of twigs in it, but I just measured and boiled it all together. In the final product the twigs and berries are left behind in the strainer (I use a very fine strainer as opposed to cheesecloth). I squeeze the berries until all of the juice is out of the (you can use disposable gloves if you do not want to have stained hands for a couple of days). I hope this review helps anyone considering to purchase the Viva Elderberries. Enjoy!

I truly enjoy the taste of elderberries. I make this tea in a coffee press, I pour in the dried elderberries and add hot water, let it sit for at least 10 minutes and enjoy! I add some stevia for my son and husband, but I drink mine w/o sweetner because the elderberries seem to be sweet enough for me. I brew this tea at the first sight of someone getting sick, since this is a natural immune enhancer, I see someone sniffle or signs of allergies, I make the tea. Its much more affordable then the syrups. Highly recommend.

My daughters love the elderberry syrup I make for them to ward off the sickness and viruses spread at school, gyms, and daycare. This bag makes two full batches which last months.
Simmer for 30 minutes in 4 cups of water:
2 cups VIVA Naturals organic dried elderberry
2 cinnamon sticks
2" of peeled ginger
Strain and add 1 cup local raw honey while still hot
Bottle for use
I give our girls 5ml at a time but it's just basically tea so feel free to offer more
