I highly recommend reading this book. It gives me hope that someday our health, and our children's health, won't be prescribed to us via presciption. The answer doesn't lie in a doctor's office. The goal is to stay OUT of the doctor's office. This book imparts vital information to help get your family well on your way to understanding what is necessary to live a better, healthier life through vitamin supplementation and better food choices.
Remember Doctors, and drug companies make money keeping your family sick. These authors make nothing from you being sick.
I also recommend The Vitamin Cure for Infant and Toddler Health.
For those serious in staying healthy for a long time buy The Orthomolecular Treatment of Chronic Disease: 65 Experts on Therapeutic and Preventive Nutrition as soon as possible as price is about to double.
We have been in the health food business for years and these three books, along with publications by Dr. Amen are truly groundbreaking.
Why the book's focus on nutrition? Nutrients form the building blocks of our entire biochemistry. When a child (or adult, for that matter) has nutritional deficiencies or exposure to artificial chemicals, his biochemistry functions at subpar levels, affecting physical health, susceptibility to infection, moods, and cognitive development. Children are far more sensitive to these imbalances because of their faster growth rate and metabolism.
The book addresses many important issues relative to children's health, including our increasing toxic environment, the phenomenal increase in childhood obesity and type 2 diabetes (once a disease of adults), allergies, asthma, and ADHD. It recommends ways to improve eating habits and provides supplement recommendations for children. I highly recommend this book.
