I got for my Blendtec and needed to modify with a drain slip joint nut to protect from blades
Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2017Verified Purchase
I got for my Blendtec
Blendtec TB-621-25 Total Blender Classic with WildSide+ Jar, Black (Certified Refurbished)
...Even this short tamper version could hit the blades of the Blendtec, so I put a drain slip joint nut
Danco 86786 1-1/2-Inch Slip-Joint Nut with Washers, PVC
on the tamper with the wide-side facing down (from my plumbing parts bin) and it worked like a charm for grinding coconut butter from shredded coconut and DIY sugar-full and sugar-free versions of chocolate hazelnut spread...I tested before firing up to make sure that there could be no contact between blade and tamper.

Margarita accidents happen. Somebody thought they could use our previous tamper without the lid in place. Crunch and munch!! Net result was an undrinkable mix of margies, an unusable old tamper, and lots of screams of surprise and laughter. Yeah, we might have had a few rounds of margies by that point in time. So it was delightful to see that this OEM tamper was available on Prime. Ordered it. Couple days later, and we are back in action! No fuss! No muss! Vitamixes are really, really good blenders, for sure!!

I guess I use a lot of almond butter. I never knew how easy it would be to make my own. It was nearly impossible before I bought this tool. Now I can use my "dry" VitaMix jar, throw in a pound of roasted almonds, put the speed on high (right away!! Let it beat those almonds all to heck, fast!! If you go low-speed, the motor overheats. Counter-intuitive, I know. I had to look it up on YouTube after my VitaMix stopped working, mid-almond-butter-making.) and keep tamping it down for about three minutes -- and voila, almond butter. The new long-handled VitaMix scraper I bought also helps clean out the jar. Aaaah...fresh organic celery, lots of Real Salt grated over top, and almond butter...and Iʻm in heaven.

I bought this for my Vitamix 32 oz. container, which despite a price of about $100 (!) does not come with this piece of hollow plastic. (You cannot use the one that comes with, say, the 48 oz. container.)
This is a purpose-built item which you need if you don't want to take chances with things like wooden spoons. So buy it, but be prepared to receive "the world's most overpriced piece of hollow plastic."

I bought this even though I have a Blendtec blender and not a Vitamix. This doesn't fit in the smaller opening of the newer Blendtec lids, and the larger opening of the older Blendec lids is too big. But for the older Blendtec lids I have that have larger top openings, I took two plastic lids from a large oatmeal container and cut holes in the middles and stacked them to put the tamper through. Then I took out the plastic removable portion of the Blendtec rubber lid, and the tamper rests on the lid above the blades. (Make sure it won't touch the blades before you use it.)

I lost the tamper that came with my Vitamix, which I had never used, and waited a while before purchasing another. I wasn’t sure which of the tampers to order, therefore, I ordered the short one. Once I received it, I realized it was the wrong one. I was a little disappointed when I wasn’t able to use it for blending frozen fruit. I needed the longer one to smash the fruit down as the blade grinds it into a creamy mixture like ice cream. The tamper is quite handy when making smoothies or grinding vegetables and frozen fruit. I’m learning to use my Vitamix more and more for different recipes that require the use of it. I eventually ordered the longer one, which works much better. I still have the short one, which I will use for other things

Mine looks different than other people's who have reviewed, so I'm wondering if mine was part of a bad batch or is a fake.

This tamper is made of cheap plastic and broke the first time I used it with my 32oz vitamix blender. Imagine having the tamper come apart mid-blend and having to quickly turn off the machine so that it doesn't get hacked apart by the powerful vitamix blades.

If you are a Vitamix owner, you might as well get a few double packs of these and keep them in the pantry. I think this is my 4th tamper. Always my fault, but it's nice to have it around a backup when I screwup and get the one I"m using chewed. They are a good price and am so glad they are on Amazon for sale.

Small tamper for the smaller Vitamix jug
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 9, 2021Verified Purchase
I lost my small tamper for the smaller Vitamix jug.
I tried using the longer one, but it was a hassle making sure it didn’t catch the blades. Obvious solution was to buy another one. Do I did.
Think it came the very next day.
Still using my Vitamix almost daily and I’ve had it for than 15 years.
