Remove your HTC Vive face foam and replace it with this ultra soft and easy to clean memory foam pad.
This memory foam replacement for the HTC Vive is really comfortable. The memory foam basically hugs your face. We recommend this for sweaty and more active virtual reality experiences or for demoing your Vive experiences at shows and conventions.
The field of view remains the same just like using the standard / official HTC Vive foam.
As an added benefit the soft and durable pu leather on this foam replacement is easy to clean with antibacterial wipes (we recommend non alcoholic wipes because they are better for the skin).
The HTC Vive Foam Replacement set contains: 2 HTC Vive Foam Pads

The idea here is a good one. They just need to up the quality on the product. A fair price for this quality would be $10 or less, not $29.
Remove factory face foam from Vive install the replacement quick and easy. Play for around 45 minute. Go to remove it with the intent to clean it up and set it out to dry. It pulls apart during removal. I figure I may have got a bad one, so the next day I try the second one that came in the pack. Same thing happens with it. Product was quite comfortable in use, and installed easily. It would have got 5 stars if it did not just fall apart so easily.
And it's a tad pricey in my opinion. Eventually, these will probably cost a buck, but... first mover makes the dough, right?
I do want to note that special care must be taken not to be too rough with these, especially when putting on and removing the headset from your head as well as putting on and removing the face pads from the headset. The seams that hold the materials together are quite thin. I was very gentle when I put one of the pads on the headset, and when I put the headset on my head, I heard a little *pop*. Turns out the seam had busted out.
Luckily, the customer support for this product is absolutely amazing. Turns out they had already left me a message telling me to contact them if I had any questions and/or concerns. I messaged them about the busted seam, and they contacted me back in under one business day requesting photo proof. After I replied later that same day, I received confirmation on the next day that not only had a replacement been sent, they actual sent me the 6mm one that I had originally meant to buy.
I've now used these products dozens times with multiple people (the 6mm replacement AND the 18mm that didn't tear) and they have performed admirably. I must admit that I am very gentle when handling them, due to the first face pad tearing so easily, and that being said, I have not had any of the remaining face pads tear or rip in any way. It's beginning to seem like that first face pad was just faulty. Better safe than sorry though.
The thicker face pads slightly reduce your FOV (field of vision) when using them, but they are very, very, cozy. If you can pull the straps quite tight on the head set, you can mitigate the loss of FOV while still maintaining the comfort of the thick foam.
The thinner face pads definitely increase your FOV, however, it is important to note that this does move your face much closer to the screens. I recommend being wary when using the smaller face pads with glasses. Adjustment using the knobs where the straps connect to the headset will help.
With both pads, it might take some some tinkering to get the view right again. It might even require a wide nose rest from HTC.
Overall, the price is a little high, but I don't even mind any more. The quality is great, and I will gladly pay this price if it means this customer service stays exactly the same. I definitely recommend this product and the company that sells it!
