If you're reading this, you or a close friend must be enduring the same should injury healing process that I am, thankfully, almost through with. In my case, it was a cycling crash and a broken clavicle. Following my surgery, I was put in a Donjoy Ultrasling III. Hands down an awesome sling. However, as a competitive cyclist I felt compelled to begin indoor training after 2.5 weeks of recovery, with 4 weeks of "sling time" still to go. Knowing how much one sweats while indoor cycling, I decided to buy a second sling for these workouts. The Donjoy is about $120 - 3-4 times the price of this Vive sling, so I bought this one. Overall, it has been great. The general quality is not bad, but the use of slightly lower quality materials and fewer features is apparent. Overall, I would say in comparison you get more for your money with the Vive, but if you want the best, get the Donjoy.
I don't mind the slightly lower quality materials and straps, etc. they work just fine and it is only for 6 weeks or so (I hope!). The problem is on both slings there are short straps near the wrist area on each side of the sling that connect to each other and the shoulder strap. This keeps the sides together and provides for a very secure and snug fit when all is connected and it's being worn - no problem there. The problem is that on the Donjoy, each of those short straps are independent and not connected to each other and the shoulder strap has two clip connectors to connect to them both. This means there is nothing that prevents the sling from opening wide at the wrist to allow you to gently lower your arm into the sling with no contortions or to slide the sling from the elbow to the hand. However, on the Vive these two short straps are sewn together and there is only a single connection (a Velcro flap) to connect to the shoulder strap. This means the sling cannot open fully and you cannot gently lower your arm into the sling without first getting your hand and wrist under that sewn-together piece that effectively permanently joins the two sides of the sling. You also cannot slide the sling from the elbow to minimize movement of your arm. There's plenty of room to do this, but in my first few weeks after surgery, there is no way I would have wanted to try that maneuver. I think there is absolutely no justification for this design and the cost to have made the two short straps independent and connect independently to the shoulder strap would have been inconsequential.
I do recommend this sling as a low cost alternative to the gold standard Donjoy sling, but be aware that its design may cause you unnecessary pain and suffering if you have a shoulder injury that requires absolutely no movement of the shoulder. If that's the case, get the Donjoy and make the healing process as painless as possible. Good luck to you and get well soon!

The only saving grace is I like how the sling attaches to the abduction pillow. It helps keep your arm from pulling on the shoulder strap as much and I can relax my injured shoulder more. I was only able to use this after I started physical therapy.
I'm not really liking the extremely large size of the sling. I have to fold the fabric a lot to attach the elbow strap sideways to be effective. The thumb strap is wide, and much more comfortable without it. There are elastic loops inside, which are effective thumb loops. I have to remove that strap anyway to even use the therapy squeeze ball.
The shoulder strap is extremely long, in order to not have the end wrap totally around the sting and up to my shoulder, the plastic adjustment ring is to high and hits my neck. It also makes the so-called quick release strap pretty useless.
I don't think I would recommend this, unless you are a large person and have someone to help you with the straps and adjustments.

I had rotator cuff surgery and the sling they gave me was huge and unmanageable. This was much nicer and easier to put on. If you have rotator cuff surgery you will not need the extra pillow that comes with it. My doc said no to the pillow when I showed it to him and he asked where the other brace was. He overall liked the smaller brace if I would keep it on and it felt better.

I'm only 5'2.5" but based on other's reviews I bought this size and I'm glad I did. There are WAY too many straps and buckles and velcro bits on this thing and half of them just make things worse. I have a hypermobility disorder so my shoulders and elbows are constantly dislocating and subluxating even when I'm doing something simple like sleeping. I bought this sling to replace my traditional sling since it straps around the waist to keep you from flailing and straps over the top of the forearm to keep it inside the brace. At least that's what was supposed to happen. It took almost an hour and the help of my SO to finally get all the straps and buckles and velcro in the right places - and I am no stranger to braces, I wear custom knee braces every day with lots of velcro and straps and metal stays and each one is fit per each leg. This thing... it's a hot mess. The shoulder strap on mine was sewn wrong so it's got a twist in it - or maybe that's how it's made? Either way it's very uncomfortable like that. You can't put the twist at the scapula if your shoulder is out for obvious reasons, and if you move it to the front it's like wearing a twisted seatbelt. You can try to hide it in the padding at the neck, which is where it tends to want to go anyway since it thins out as it rolls, but that causes it to dig in at your neck. If you have neck problems, or crutch around (I check both of those boxes) it isn't a pleasant sensation. Unlike some people I really like the pillow aspect. The brace failed the sleep test though. Somehow, even though it was like wearing a straight jacket on one side of my body, I woke up this morning with all the straps still perfectly in place and my arm free and clear of the sling. If I can Houdini my way out of this contraption while unconscious then the excessive amount of straps are utterly worthless to me.
