This powerful Vivitar 500mm f/8 Manual Focus Telephoto Lens utilizes aluminum alloy construction, computer-designed all-glass optics and the latest optical multi-coating techniques to provide crisp, high-contrast, virtually flare-free images of distant subjects, even under adverse lighting conditions. It features an aperture range of f/8 - f/32 and a rotating tripod mount, and it comes with a soft carrying case. Perfect for nature, sports and surveillance photography.
This 2x teleconverter attaches to any T-mount (screw mount) lens, and effectively doubles the focal length of that lens, allowing the photographer to get much closer to the action. This simple, yet high-grade adapter provides excellent optical quality at an affordable price.
This T-mount adapter is specifically designed to fit T-mount (screw-mount) lenses to a Nikon AF mount SLR/DSLR camera.
This 67-inch monopod is made of strong, lightweight black aluminum, and features a 4-section leg with horizontal flip-locks. Also features a non-slip rubber foot, padded grip, and a carrying case with adjustable shoulder strap.
This 6-piece cleaning kit contains everything you'll ever need to properly clean your lenses, including a Hurricane Air Blower, Lens Cleaning Tissues, Lens Cloth, Lens Cleaning Liquid, Brush and Cotton Swabs.
Reduce glare, enhance your view, and prevent scratching with this set of LCD screen protectors.

You must have an understanding of how to use manual mode on your camera. This is not an automatic lens and you have to manual focus it. You will have to set your settings also on your camera even though this is listed as a f8, there is quite a bit you still can do with your settings to produce better photographs.
The weight of lens is nice and the ease of use was also easy. I used it both with the t-mount adapter and just straight attached to the camera.
The downfall with the 2x teleconverter is that when I first attached it, I over tighten it I believe and we could not get it separated from the adapter. My husband had to heat up the adapter a couple of times and twist it off from the teleconverter. Since then I have used both pieces with no problems, just be careful.
I personally didn't get the result I wanted with the teleconverter, however I think with more practice I will. I do feel I got nice results with the 500mm lens.
A Tripod is a MUST with these types of lens to stabilize your lens and prevent camera shake. Using a remote shutter or timer is also a must.
I encourage all beginners to give it a try. It helped me learn more about my camera/settings and also learned how to take better photos. You wont get the "greatest" photos with this lens but for beginners I think it is ideal for learning and improving yourself.
The photos below are what I took with the 500mm lens. These are my photos, copyrighted. DT
