Here is the downside. The shoes are not durable. I'm sure that if you ran in them for an hour a few times a week, they would last for a long time, but I wore them constantly and am moving around for much of the day (though mostly indoors). They wore out in about 2 months. the bottoms wore away at the ball of my foot and one of the shoes now actually has a hole in the bottom. If you ask me, that is unacceptable, I expect to be able to wear $50+ shoes for many months, not 2.
The shoes are quite comfortable and they look decent, but the durability just drags these shoes down so much.
I went to the Vivobarefoot website to check sizing. Their sizing app is way off. It told me that to achieve the fit of my New Balance Minimus MT10, size 9, that I would need a size 43. So, that's what I ordered. They're huge.
So, I did some searching and found that a US 9 and 9 1/2 are generally considered to be a EU size 42. Then, I looked at actual measurements, in inches, and measured my foot. That put me in a 41.
I returned the 43 and ordered the 41. It fits the way I would expect it to, length-wise. I usually wear a 2E width, and these fit me with room to spare, so I would guess that if you're a 4E width, you'd still be fine with them; the difference in shoe widths, in inches, isn't that much.
These have a removable 'sock', which can be worn on its own. I wore it around the house, just out of curiosity, and it's comfortable, but it takes 20 minutes or so to get used to. It does have tread, so you can wear it outside, though I can't see me doing that, unless I have them on and need to run out to the car or something.
To replace the 'sock', and protect you from the laces, they have a neoprene 'tongue' that snaps in.
The shoes fit well, they don't slip, and they're comfortable. The only downside that I've found is that the bottom of your feet sweat, while the rest of each foot is well ventilated.
I like that they're easy to clean and can get wet without worry.
One other warning; if you step on something sharp or pointy, you WILL feel it. Unlike most minimalist shoes, which have tougher Vibram soles, these are pretty soft. I accidentally stepped on an in-ground sprinkler head or something, and it hurt! So, watch where you step when you wear them!
If it weren't for the fit issues, I'd give them 5 stars. Even if the sizing app had pointed me to a 42, it would've still been too big. That makes me question whether they're sizing them incorrectly, or if it's just a typical problem with conversions. I don't know.
Even though these shoes are huge on my foot, they do not cause blisters or irritation. I have worn these shoes for hours on end with both the sock liner and with just the outer shell, and my feet were perfectly happy.
I have had these shoes for a week, and have been wearing them as a daily shoe, for road and trail running, for cross training, and for rainy runs. In addition, I work at a paintball field, where the paint literally eats away at any footwear that I wear. Not these! I simply run these under the faucet with a little bit of soap, and they look as good as new with no sign of wear, or degradation.
I was able to break this shoe in in less than a week. I have yet to see how long these shoes will last given all that I put them through, but as of now, I am sold. This is the best minimal shoe I have found. Who needs to get ridiculed for Vibrams, when you can go straight to these and have literally every person on the planet ridicule your new 'crocs'. Just kidding of course. :)
By the way, these shoes are advertised with antibacterial odor eating material.... Well, it does not work. After one week, these smell like... well... feet. But who cares about that, when I run barefoot, my feet smell like feet too, so nothing lost there.
Many of the other posts talk about how the shoes feel and stuff so Ill talk a bit about the sizing! I am a guy with pretty standard feet (no sole/heel issues) and I wear a 10 in NB, 10.5 in Addidas, 10.5 in nike, 10.5 in Steve maddens, and an 11 in rock-climbing shoes. I purchased the 44EU/10-10.5 i think and the insole was the prefect size! The outer part was slightly bigger but i think that was intended to be able to hold the insole. I wear these without the insole and i just tighten the laces and they work extremely well!

Love these shoes, use them all the time w/o liner, even to the Mall.
Sole is worn out, I surely I'll miss these shoes.
I wore them with the liner, without the liner, and wore the liner by itself.Read more
