Sometimes you're lucky if you get one of those things I mentioned. Sometimes you're really lucky if you get more. But what happens when you experience all of those things?
Because I did.
Poor Tate. It's a good thing I don't live near her.
This book has it all. I've literally been waiting for this book to release ALL. DAY. LONG. Weeks, I've been waiting. And it was that good.
You know you want to buy this book now. You want to read it and feel all those unhealthy things I just mentioned. Because a book like this doesn't come along very often. This my friends, is the ultimate jackpot.
Join Kit and her guys on this magical ride that I don't want to get off of. And that's why I get to read it again and again. And so should you.
James does a great job at weaving together multiple story arcs without making the reader feel overcrowded. We've got a running arc about Kit aka the Fox and the special ops team who discovers her identity. Then we've also got this complex arc beginning that is tied into the mystery of Kit's origins- who is she? WHAT is she? how is she linked to the mysterious genetic experiments that they're starting to find evidence of?
Both story lines will hook you in. With the special ops team we get a thrilling blend of fast/slow/medium burn; there's something to keep every type of reader satisfied. Kit's chemistry is different with each man, so prepare to be pleased, teased, and even frustrated all at the same time.
Outside of their chemistry with Kit, each of the men is, of course, delicious.
River, the alpha male and team leader who is used to getting his orders followed both in the field and in the bedroom.
Cole, the fighter with a hard*ss exterior with so much care and protectiveness underneath.
Wesley, the shy tech guru who doesn't seem to realize how much of a catch he truly is.
Caleb & Austin- two brothers who couldn't be more opposite sides of the coin. Caleb: flirty, charismatic, and warm-hearted. Austin: gruff, a frequent user of sarcastic, sharp wit, and slow to forgive.
Altogether, it's basically impossible to resist them. Not to mention, I'm ready to drool over just the description of their tattoos. Droolworthiness aside, I love that James has crafted characters with a brotherly bond (in the twins case, biologically), but with layers of depth. Even in just this first book, there seems to always be something new to discover, some alluring piece of their personality or past that makes you love them even more.
Overall, The Vixen's Lead is a can't miss kind of book. The relationships are engaging and organic, the romance varied, steamy, and fun, and the action is well-written and alluring. My best tip for you is to head to that "one-click" button as soon as you finish reading my review.
Most of the book is through the eyes of the MC, Kit Davenport. You get her inner monologue which at times can give a good chuckle, and you really get a feel for her desperation to learn who she is. There are a couple of chapters that are from other characters' viewpoints; these are far between, just a handful altogether. They threw me off a little at first, partially because I wasn't expecting it at all and partially because it almost didn't seem necessary. However, I am one of those people that also enjoys reading multiple viewpoints, so having other characters' inner thoughts can be beneficial. If you don't like multiple points of view, it's still not a biggie because, as I mentioned, there's only a handful in the whole book. It is, I would guess, 90% Kit's POV.
I am really excited to keep reading the series and see where this story goes. It is definitely a different take on the paranormal than I expected, and I really love that about this story!

It's a great story, which is why I'm continuing the read, but it's only getting three stars because I think the sex is raking away from the story a bit too much.
Her relationships are not progressing normally, which is already a no-no for me, especially when it's just in the name of a steamy scene.
-spoilers coming, you have been warned-
I just don't understand how kit can gets pisseds when she thinks Caleb knobbed someone off but they she openly does it to two of his best friends and he's fine with it? Bull.
I enjoyed the read so I will continue to the next one but I'm sure I'll get sick of the story soon, it's not my thing and just is annoying unrealistic
She's a good writer at least.
Don't get me wrong, I love steamy books, but this one takes it too far. Every second line is some sexual comment or another.
Loved it. Simple. Absolutely loved every single minute of it. Even Austin being a frosty.
So, Kit is seriously badass. No matter how many assortment of nicknames she is given (Kitty Kat, Kitten, Vixen, Princess, Christina), badass should top that list. She's incredible. I want to be her when I grow up (although, technically, I'm older than her but we'll ignore that tidbit). There are so many levels so her. She's vulnerable on very rare occasion, but hates pity. She's loving and caring. She's funny, sassy and is equipped with some serious banter. She has to be one of my very favourite heroines, for sure.
And now onto the fellas. Where would I even begin?! Oh hot damn, for one. I want to be Kit, the lucky gal. I don't even know what to say about them. They're just as incredible as Kit. They're all total sweethearts, aren't afraid to love and care and to show it. Are intense but in a sexy way, not the kind of way that your in an interview and the interviewer is intense to try and psych you out. So yeah, can I steal them? Please?
The story line has me hooked, line and sinker. I'm loving it! Seriously gripped. I need to know more about Kits parents and the experiments. I just need more!
All in all, bloody fantastic read. Didn't want to put it down! To say I was gutted when I finished it and had to wait for the next book would be putting it mildly.
So, yeah. Would highly recommend! One of my top 5 favourite series. Cant wait for the rest!
I read these books a while ago and didn't leave a review, so this is a very general review of the while series.
I enjoyed these books and found them easy to ready, a lot of the books I couldn't put down and had to keep reading!
The characters are great and I love the intricacies of some of the relationships. I massively enjoyed the mystery of the storyline.
Each book brings something more and moves the story on in ways you don't always expect.
I would definitely recommend that you read these books
