They work great in place of laptop CPU's that use thermal pads. Most Laptops have a thermal pad that is 1mm in thickness, so this is a great choice if you want to reduce the temperatures even further. Just put thermal compound on both sides so that the CPU has some on it as well as the heatsink.

Note - they come from china, so be prepared to wait 30 days or so.

Used for cooling in my laptop

Replaced some cooling pads in my laptop with this copper. So far so good. I did a lot of other things to the laptop at the same time, so I don't know how much these shivs are contributing, but I have a drop of 24 degrees in average laptop temperature at full load. The one things I forgot to do before reassembly was soldering these shivs together. Next time I take the computer apart for cleaning, I'll add solder and return here with comment if there is a further temperature difference. Probably won't be.

Perfect copper to mod the vram and Ram and CPU on a Qosmio X70 or any laptop if you want a 10 degree or so drop in temps as long as the screws are long enough like the Qosimo x70 i modded with these . I am now going to try to mode a Dell inspiron N5050 2nd Gen i7 processor with these copper shims.
