It seems OK but it dissipates 33 W when open and it gets too hot to touch after a few minutes. I would certainly NEVER consider it for any flammable fluid!

I had an aluminum heatsink lying around which I bolted to the valve; it helps cooling it to some extent. I'm going to try this combination for watering a corner of the garden, hoping that the fins, in addition to the water flow, will dissipate some of the heat generated, but I'm not very optimistic as the heat conductivity of the brass body is pretty low.

After having this thing powered on for five minutes, it was too hot to touch. There's no way I can recommend it to anyone for any application. Seriously, this thing is a fire hazard!

It pulls 2.8 amps, which is crazy for what it actually has to do.

The valve itself seems to function alright. No problems with it sticking open (I don't have a back flow so that isn't an issue). Its an energy hog and will pretty much use all the power you throw at it. I did some readings so you can throw the minimum amount of power possible at it, and it won't get hot at all. In order to open the valve it needs 6.7v @ 1.4a = 9.38 watts. After the valve is open it only requries 1.3v @ .2a = .26 watts or 260 mW. It could actually be less than that since my DC power supply only went down to 1.3v.

I recently purchase two of these valves. I will agree with some of the posting about the heat. I noticed that running the valve at 12 volts it generated a lot of heat, too hot to touch by hand, however if you run the valve at 6 volts, the valve gets warm, but you can still hold it in your hand. I expected the valve to be slow acting, but it has very fast switching speed to be so cheap.

DON'T WASTE YOUR $$ VALVE DOES NOT CLOSE ALL THE WAY. HAD PLENTY OF BACKFLOW. VALVE WILL GET EXTREMELY HOT AFTER A FEW SECONDS. I HAD TO REMOVE IT. NO WONDER ITS SO CHEAP. HORN BLASTERS HAS THE BEST VALVES, AT HIGHER $$ OBVIOUSLY BUT REMEMBER THAT YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. DATE:10-23-14

Product seems to be well made. Have concerns about the threaded connections. It seems that the threading is a bit shallow so that when a threaded MIP is connected, it seems to bottom out. Will try to see if threaded goop or teflon tape will prevent any leaks from developing.

i installed this on the supply line for an old Hallenberg air whistle and it worked great. Much cheaper then getting the manufacturers manual pull valve for 200+ dollars. this also allowed me to use a momentary switch for the horn instead of the original wire pull. Huge improvement
