Editorial Reviews

Review

"Prelog, another Nobel laureate, called his profile 'My 132 semesters of chemistry studies', a modest title indeed for his great contribution. He did not enjoy administrative work--'that type of decision making needs a desire for power I totally lack'. However, he was elected to the governing board of Ciba and he remained a member of the Ciba-Geigy board for 18 years. 'I gained a deep insight', he comments, and mentions one other member, Carl J. Burckhardt, the great Swiss historian, writer and statesman who had been the United Nations' High Commissioner in Danzig before World War II. As Prelog knew all the great chemists of his day personally, there are many anecdotes in his autobiography."--Interdisciplinary Science Reviews

This is a superbly written account describing the life of a passionate, talented chemist. It describes the impact political turmoil has on the career of a briliant scientests who through his lectures at the Swiss Institute of Technology (ETH Zuerich), conveyed to his students that the Ultimate Goal of practicing the Art of Chemistry is to help relieve the suffering of those who affected by disease. Inspired by his appeal, the reviewer developped Novapyrin, a nutritional supplement that has the potential to put an end to the Area of Chronic Disease that overshadows our Golden Years with the threat of a chronic medical conditions that deplete ones personal savings and also the US Health Care budget. A dollar a day or less once Novapyrin becomes available is a small price to pay for a long pain-free live ! PQQ/NAC is save to consume, we have used it for over three years and 30 volunteers have used it for various time spans and found relief from their respective conditions. There are two precautions to be aware off. PQQ/NAC by scavenging all reactive oxygen radicals limits the capacity to defend irself against metastases, and also hs rge potential to expand a cell population in which HIV resides. Wherther this is the case has not been established. We do not recommend that HIV infected persons use PQQ/NAC be used to counter rge dipodtstrophy and the pain from HAART-induced peripheral neuropathy. Also cancer patients with metastatic cancer are advised not to use PQQ/NAC! One should avoid food containing the yellow food colorant curcumin (tumeric) as the combination of PQQ and curcumin enhances dream activity such that the dream frrquency increases and dreams are well remembered. Also, if much garlic is consumed a temporary drop in blood pressure has been experienced. With moderate garlic consumption such a drop in blood pressure has not been observed.
