The only disappointment is that there's probably enough material left in the vaults for a 30-CD set of Sinatra on radio, which I'd love to have. Most especially, I want all of the mid-50s "Perfectly Frank" & "Frank Sinatra Show" songs in restored audio quality (only 9 are included here).
this is great fun, I lack the expertise to comment on artistic value but it is just a great experience for a fan who started listening to Sinatra as a child in the 1950s

Due to the age and rarity of these recordings I expected the audio quality and even performances to be quite hit and miss but I was pleasantly surprised to find sharp, moving and thrilling recordings some of which could pass for Mr. Sinatra's studio recordings catalogue.
A great mix is presented here of songs Sinatra recorded (or later recorded) in the studio and songs he never took into the studio. Also presented are some 'bonus' introductions and radio commercials, probably to give the listener a sense of how it sounded at the time of original broadcast. The constant references to cigarettes were a bit surprising but I'm glad they were left in as it is more authentic.
I listened to the whole set in one day and stand out tracks for me so far include 'My Heart Stood Still', 'As Time Goes By', 'The Way You Look Tonight' (much different than his later recording), 'It Had to Be You', 'Why Try to Change Me Now' and more which are right up there with Sinatra's greatest performances.
Some tracks are more light-hearted and comedy inspired but these are still a joy to listen to.
2015 marks Sinatra's hundredth birthday and it truly is still Sinatra's world, particularly hearing gems like these for the first time.
This is a fantastic package with some real gems that I am sure many fans will not have heard the great man sing before.
5 Stars. An absolute bargain.
