Despite the over thousand dollar price tag, this lens is a bargain--as its performance iscomparable to lenses costing 4-5 times as much
The f/1.2 aperture sucks in the light beautifully, enabling me to take shots in near total darkness.
The aperture ring clicks nicely, and is located in an ideal position. The focus ring is knurled and wide, making it easy to find and turn. On many manual lenses the focus ring and aperture ring are too close together, and are finished the same, making it difficult to remember which is which. Not so on this lens. It really is a dream to use.
UPDATE: This lens does not hold up as well with the A7r -- the Sony Zeiss 35/2.8 out-resolved it handily. BUT, you will never notice it in your pictures, even if you blow them up to 16x24. Plus, the Sony Zeiss is several stops slower, so you can't get the same bokeh. So still a keeper, unless you have the cash to buy Leica.
