The Voigtlander 35 f1.2 V2 is a PHENOMENAL lens! I'm using it on the Sony NEX 7 with a Novoflex adapter. This setup is rock solid compared to other adapters I've tried. Anyway...Images taken with the lens are tack sharp. Wide open - this lens paints images beautifully. The bokeh is very pleasing to my eye. Like most ultrafast lenses, there is some minor vignetting, but it's absolutely aesthetically pleasing. Mechanically -everything clicks, & snicks, & turns wonderfully smoothly as it should. Yes, it weighs more than other 35mm M lenses. It's not objectionable though, the heft lends an air of solidness & security when holding the camera. In other words...it feels balanced & right in your hands. At the same time that I purchased this lens, I had the Voigtlander Nokton 35 f1.4 and the Zeiss 35 f2 in my possession. In short...the Nokton 35 f1.4 is nicely built (for the price), produces softer images, has focus shift, but does produce nice images within it's limitations. The Zeiss is fantastically sharp, extremely well built, smaller than the 35 f1.2, and produces slightly more "technical" images than the 35 f1.2. All that being said, I prefer the way the Voigtlander 35 f1.2 V2 draws images. It's very fast & creates beautiful subject isolation & bokeh when used wide open and still is crazy sharp when stopped down. This lens is a bargain when you compare the quality, performance, & price to that of Leica glass. Highly recommended.

This lens is magic. Period. I am using it on a Sony a7r and can honestly tell you that I could happily forego any other lens for this one. I have the CV 40/1.4 and so I hesitated a bit -- given the relatively similar focal length and speed -- but there is no comparison. The 35/1.2 renders higher contrast images and has a more refined bokeh. Also, it's sharp without being quite as clinical as my Sony-Zeiss 55/1.8. Lastly, the build quality is amazing. This lens is hefty (in a good way) and has very smooth and precise focus and aperture rings. The combined weight of the lens plus the a7r is 2 lbs, 7 oz (1.1 kg). Perfect.

This is an incredible lens. I currently use it with an Sony A7 and its my favorite lens. I prefer the rendering of this lens to that of the CV Ultron 28mm or even the E-mount benchmark lens, the Sony/Zeiss FE 55mm. This lens is sharper than the Ultron, but isn.t so sharp that the images feel clinical like those taken with the FE 55mm. There is a nice sample image of what the lens can do against a background. Attached is an image of what it can do when stopped down. Just stunning.

Despite the over thousand dollar price tag, this lens is a bargain--as its performance iscomparable to lenses costing 4-5 times as much

This lens is sharp, the bokeh is smooth, and the colors pop. On a NEX-7 this is a 50mm lens, which makes it the most useful lens I have.

The f/1.2 aperture sucks in the light beautifully, enabling me to take shots in near total darkness.

The aperture ring clicks nicely, and is located in an ideal position. The focus ring is knurled and wide, making it easy to find and turn. On many manual lenses the focus ring and aperture ring are too close together, and are finished the same, making it difficult to remember which is which. Not so on this lens. It really is a dream to use.

UPDATE: This lens does not hold up as well with the A7r -- the Sony Zeiss 35/2.8 out-resolved it handily. BUT, you will never notice it in your pictures, even if you blow them up to 16x24. Plus, the Sony Zeiss is several stops slower, so you can't get the same bokeh. So still a keeper, unless you have the cash to buy Leica.

This is an almost perfect lens. I use it on a Leica M9 and I have no complaints. I purchased this lens used from another person who used it on a Sonny A7 or so. First, the lens pre-focussed. Yes, once I focused very carefully and shot, the lens focused 1/2-inch before the intended target. I think the original owner did not tell the truth, and he had the same problem because the lens was almost brand new and mint. I had to send it to DAG and he did collimation ($160 plus $20 shipping = $180. I paid $850 for it, so the total was $1,030). The lens brand new is $950 nowdays. He adjusted the focusing distance and I am a very happy person. I think after the focus correction, this lens is unbelievable sharp wide open. I only use it wide open (why would I buy an f1.2 lens to used it stopped it down?). I have no complaints, the lens is a bit heavy and big, but excellent. The color produced are excellent, and the quality of the image is excellent. I do not know if the problem was from factory. In any case, buy it NEW with warranty in case your focus is not correct. If you buy it used, check the accuracy of the focusing distance before closing the deal. I have the Leica Summicron 35/2 and this lens. For night and special effects wide open, I use this lens. For every other thing I use the Leica. The only reason I keep the Leica is because it is the best 35/2 even made, and it is very small, opposite to this Nokton. Buy this lens with confidence, it is probably the best Nokton lens ever. I would give it FIVE stars, but because of the focus problem I had, I presume it came from factory that way.
