The Voigtlander Nokton 42.5mm f/0.95 Micro Four Thirds Lens is a bright, fast portrait-length lens that provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 85mm when used on Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras. This manual focus, manual exposure prime lens utilizes a Selective Aperture Control System, which renders the aperture control ring as stepless and de-clicked for silent and smooth performance. This is ideally-suited to video applications or for greater control over aperture selection while shooting. The optical construction integrates one Super High Refractive element as well as one aspherical element to minimize chromatic aberrations and produce imagery with notable clarity and sharpness. Ten aperture blades form a nearly circular diaphragm in order to produce an aesthetic bokeh that is noticeable when using shallow depth of field and selective focus techniques and a minimum focusing distance of 9.1" supports working with close-up subject matter.Features: One Super High Refractive element & one aspherical element work to produce a high image qualityFully manual focus & exposure lens features an all-metal lens barrel & a 10-blade diaphragmMade For Micro Four Thirds MountsHighly bright and fast 42.5mm f/0.95 lensProduces a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 85mmSelective Aperture Control System produces a stepless, de-clicked aperture ringProvides silent and smooth exposure adjustment suited for video application

I really like the DOF and color rendering - the photos almost look "surreal." The lens has some weight behind it that takes a little bit of getting used to. Seems like the lens is built to last forever.
If you're debating between the 17.5mm and 42.5mm, I would definitely go with the 17.5mm if you were only buying one of the Voigtlander lenses. It's more versatile. I use my 17.5mm more than the 42.5mm.
Overall, an amazing lens with great bokeh. The out of focus areas are creamy-smooth and have an almost swirled look to them.
I was very reluctant to pay the sticker-shocking $799 for this lens, but I heard so many wonderful reviews about it, as the best m43 portrait lens on the market. So I picked it up, expecting to be disappointed and returning it.
That didn't happen. This lens is incredible. If you're a fan of shallow DOF/bokeh, this is a dream lens. At f/0.95, the focus depth is about an inch--incredible! I am so happy that I bought this lens and I'm pretty sure it's going to be my go-to for a while.
The image is much more filmic (slightly less contrasty and video-y than the Panasonic 35-100mm and Panasonic Leica 25mm that I also own), very flattering look with this lens. For video f0.95 is sharp enough and still a manageable depth of field if you are a few feet from your subject.
I film weddings and commercials for a living and love what this lens does for me. It's incredibly easy to pull focus thanks to it being fully manual and not focus by wire. As someone who never used autofocus I love this. Its hard to switch back to my other lenses when it comes to usability and image quality. For a M4/3 lens this is not cheap, but it's worth every penny.
Check out a few stills from different projects I've shot (all these were on the GH3, recently moved to GH5 and this lens is even more amazing).

f0.95 gives you the look of approx. a f2 on a FF camera. Now, the CA gets a little noticeable wide open like that, but that's the limits of physics.Read more
