Whenever you have a choice between a Vollrath brand item and any other item, buy the Vollrath regardless of the price (notice I did NOT say "cost," as any Vollrath purchase is an investment, in my experienced opinion), because you will only have to purchase that item ONCE. Enough said. Except that they have been rocking perfection for about 150 years up in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and they're still a family-owned and -operated business that equitably shares the revenue with its employees. Yes, I checked it all out since I was buying a lot of their kitchen equipment and it was about time I checked on their ethical stances. Not a single flaw. They do business right -- by everybody involved, especially their customers.

A Little Small For Cupcakes

As others have noted, these dishers are great quality and designed to be durable enough for daily use in the food industry. But it can be a little tricky to select the right size.

This disher, for example, is a #24, which means that it takes 24 scoops to make a quart. Many people recommend this size for cupcakes is about right for standard cupcakes IF they rise a lot and the batter isn't too runny. I got this specifically for making cupcakes and found that the cupcakes rose barely above the level of the baking cup--it reminded me of the cupcakes my mom used to make to take to school. And for a "healthy" muffin with less rise, it was entirely inadequate.

So I'm upgrading to a #20 disher to give just a little more batter to each cup to get a more "luxurious" cupcake. That will increase the scoop amount from 1 1/3 oz to 1 5/8 oz.

So, like I said--it's sometimes tricky to get the right size, but you won't go wrong with the quality

Received a cheaper quality Winco disher, not a Vollrath disher

The title pretty much says it. I received a Winco brand disher in a Winco box upon which Amazon had placed a Vollrath sticker. I’ve ordered a replacement and will update if I actually receive a Vollrath brand disher. But when this has happened in the past with other orders, usually it is months before someone actually sorts it out at the distribution facility. The one star review reflects my desire to warn people away from ordering this product until Amazon starts actually sending out the correct product. If I were to have actually received a Vollrath disher, I would have rated it 5 star. I already own several (#20, #30, #40, #50, and #100) and they are lovely. Just wanted a #24 to round out my collection.
