We were surprised that the sewing machine worked so well after we had converted the power, and that at so minimal a cost. We have tried several power converters in the past, and it was disastrous. Gave up trying. The only reason I brought my Bernina Sewing Machine with me, was that my son in law thought it was able to convert to both power sources, and when we got it here, it did not work. We were very disappointed, tried several shops to see if they could help, but to no avail. Then my husband tried Amazon. My children will be buying several electrical appliances here in America that they can not buy back in South Africa and taking them home to South Africa with them, because they can convert the power on them with this voltage converter. I would recommend this voltage converter to any one, it is truly wonderful and inexpensive. We are very happy and give this converter a 5 star rating.

My recommendation would be to get a appliance that works in the US rather than trying to use one bought somewhere in the world with the converter...it’s not the same...

I bought this to use my UK VCR in the US, (wanted to copy old home movies onto DVD), and it does exactly what it says on the tin.
Very straightforward instructions, easy to set up, does the job.
I was a little concerned it might get hot with prolonged use, but no, no problems at all, very pleased with my purchase.

The problems with this product started from the very first moment that the package was opened. Checking on it, the spare fuse that comes with it was all smashed. Well, that gives you an idea of the quality of the packaging or should I say, the care that the manufacturer put on it.

The second issue we found with this is the outlet connector. Been a transformer to 220, the connector shouldn't be one for a standard 110 connector. Granted, I saw the pictures before I got it and nevertheless I got it, but the hope is for you not to do the same mistake as I did.

The third issue is the smell and smoke that comes out of it when you use if for first time. Yes, it gives you a clue that the product is new, but as well it may camouflage a real problem with the device itself. When we connect it, the smell was akin to burned plastic, and ever after a couple of minutes, smoke started to come out of the case vents. Having had experience with electric/electronic devices, even though is not common or should happen, depending on the type of device and quality of manufacture, the device will emit the smoke and smell as this one did for a little while. Now, what this tells me, is that the QA/QC done to the product was not as extensive and appropriated as it should.

All in all, the product at the end kind of worked, but it is not good for applications where it is required long operating times, or devices like coffee makers or bigger. Perhaps if you have a small train set, will be good enough...

Sorry, but not that recommended.

I used it here when my relatives visited from Europe, and I gave it to them to use with a battery charger they bought here in the USA. They said it is working great converting 220 to 110 in charging tool batteries. They have been using it for over a year with no problems.

I needed this for a trip to Greece and I blew a fuse with it right away which doesn't make it able to use.. Luckily, it came with two extra fuses, however, one was broke so that left me with one and paranoia that it would blow that fuse as well... The thing I hated most about it is that it smelled like burning plastic so much we had to ventilate our room hotel room every time and sometimes leave the room if we needed it on too long. Waste of my money.

Expectations were met . Just remember to check on the back before you plug this item into a socket . The product was set at 220
USA has a 110 voltage.

Needed something to charge some electronics that run on 220V here in the States. This worked perfectly. When I purchased they anticipated 10 days for shipping. It came in 2 days!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great adaptor and not too bulky.
Reviewed in Canada on June 4, 2016
The voltage convertor from 110v -240v- 110v just did the trick when we moved our household effects from Australia to Canada. I thought the two choices of plug sockets was limited and I could only just fit a two pronged Australian plug in. Many of my appliances from Australia had three pronged plug and it was fairly redundant for these.
I struggled to find anything suitable in the market and in hindsight it was going to be easier if I had bought outward bound travel adapters for Canada whilst in Australia. I also found out that many modern appliances would cover 110- 240v and 50-60hz so all that is needed is a Canadian plug.

"Enfin !!!"

4.0 out of 5 stars it worked quite nicely, but I was a little concerned
Reviewed in Canada on September 26, 2017
I ordered this before I realized it was a 500 Watt converter - my appliance requires 800 Watts

Nevertheless, it worked quite nicely, but I was a little concerned, so ordered the Simran AC-1000 Step Up/Down Voltage Converter Transformer 110V/220V-1000-watt which does the same job, but without the obvious strain of getting quite warm.
