I'm sure this mower would have worked fine, but upon unboxing, I discovered one of the handle bracket mounts was welded on incorrectly, so the entire handle wouldn't mount onto the unit.
Okay, I still give it a try and push it on my grass without the handle mounted - 5 feet after pushing the right wheel flies off! Not kidding. I was surprised!
The first thing I noticed was the poor build quality of the wheels - they feel like child toy plastic modules. They're terrible quality. I'm sure one smack against a small brick or stone and it would crack.
I ended up finding a used Fiskars Max reel mower for $90 on Craigslist. So much happier with that thing. The Fiskar is some serious quality!
Stay away from this one!
The blades were sharp- duh, Laura, it's brand new. I figure that this must have been lacking in my first experience because this beast chopped grass left and right! Once I got it started moving the going was very smooth. This is seems like a simple detail but it's really what makes cutting with a push mower easy or hard in my opinion.
I also found the set up quite easy. There were six screws to put in and the handlebars came in three pieces to screw together. Last but not least, clip the bag on and this mower is set up. I found that one of the holes didn't line up super well, but I'm not enough of a perfectionist to fight the holes for ten minutes so I moved on. Because I skipped the screw battle, it took just under ten minutes to put together- including having to fetch the parts multiple times from my children who wanted to play with them.
I also really appreciate that the mower is adjustable. There are two pins that change the height of a bar on the back that sets how low the mower clips. I set mine on the highest setting because my grass was about 8 inches long. However, a push mower would be great for someone who mows their lawn MUCH more frequently than I do because the could go over their grass easily without wasting any fuel. I think that this push mower is very effective at it's job and I'm very happy with how it trims my grass!
I received this push mower for free for my honest and unbiased review.
