We purchased this for our 17 year old daughter who loves to bake and cook. She started making homemade pasta so this seemed like a reasonably prices pasta roller that would make things a bit easier for her.

Out of the box, all the items shown in picture were included. I do wish that the clamp to secure it to the counter top was a little longer. I have 2" counter tops and the clamp will not fit over the edges of my counters so we had to improvise and secure it to a big cutting board and let that kind of hang over the edge of the counter.

The roller is easy to operate and pretty self expanatory. We experiments with all of the different attachments and made some delicious pasta. My daughter read through the directions and made sure to flour each of the parts before running the dough through. We did not see any black residue or anything like that as reported in other reviews.
We did attempt the Ravioli roller but our first attempt was a fail. There are no directions included in the box as to how to operate that, so we will go back and look up some youtube videos and try again at a later date maybe. It was a big mess and I had to scrape the pasta dough and filling out with toothpicks. I decided to just let it sit for a bit and after it all dried it was much easier to remove the stuff that had bundled up inside it. We already own a ravioli maker that you just lay the pasta sheets on and press the little pockets for filling in and that was much easier to use.
It's pretty easy to clean. just run some extra dough through and shake out the excess flour. We put it all in a nice little clear storage box to store.
Overall, for the price we are satisfied. In the future we may spend a little more money for one that is a better quality if she continues her interest in pasta. but I did not want to spend a ton on something that my daughter may use a few times and not enjoy.

Having never made pasta before, I am very pleased with this VonShef pasta maker and my first two experiences. With very little practice, I was making pasta like a pro. So far I have used two pasta recipes and made two types of pasta noodles, spaghetti and fettuccine. The semolina flour is much superior to the all purpose white flour for making pasta, I found. I will try whole wheat pasta next. I would have given the product five stars but the handle kept falling on the floor. They need to have a locking mechanism to solve this engineering problem. The cutters have a problem cutting the noodles completely if you go beyond the 7 thickness, 6 is better so take this into account or you will have to pull the strands apart. In my opinion, this product is a good value for the money.

Of course the tines are removable, that's the entire point for buying this product. Trying to put raw pasta on tines an inch apart would be ludicrous. I simply catch the pasta with the tine as it comes out of the machine, cut it, then insert tine into set up rack. No fiddling with a handful of pasta. The height of the rack makes for a perfect length of pasta. Info says they aren't removable, don't know why, would have sent it back. Yes,it's a bit shaky for the crown jewels, for pasta it's perfect. Easy to move when loaded. Keep tines wiped with mineral oil. I would buy another, but instead, I drilled holes in the back of the top bar, inserted my own dowels for twice the drying space, may need to weight the leg. Broken down with tines removed it fits in a plastic shopping bag for storage, taking up 60% less space that ridiculous box it comes in.

Purchased three sets with varied quality received. The basic design and materials are very good and seemingly food safe. Beware that the assembly is loose for quick set up and storage as inherent to a temporary drying rack. So, it may be necessary to place a weight on the base feet for stability - try a sack of beans or rice. Of the three sets one was perfect, one had all the tines in the box but mostly unglued and detached, and one had mostly unglued and missing tines. I returned the set with missing tines for refund. The tines can be reinserted and glued with food-safe glue. Clearly the manufacturer has not a final quality inspection so you take your chances.

It worked very well initially, but after a couple of uses became very hard to crank. Took off the side and found that the gears are very small & not held in place well with the retaining clip. I was able to re-position the gear and clip and it seems to work better now, although I anticipate having to do this periodically. I think a better gear assembly would make this a much better roller. We also have started with the pasta a little thinner& that seems to help also.

Now I really like this pasta rack. The wood was smooth & I had no problem w/ assembly. It has a rustic look which I love for my pasta drying racks. I truly don't think one is enough if you plant yo really make pasta.
It would have been better if instructions were included' the box was open on receipt so there may have been instructions. As far as doing long pasta, yes you can. To accomplish drying the very long pasta, do not lay the pasta on a single drying dowel but stretch them out across 3-4 or all the dowels, depending on how long you'd like your pasta. Again, as I explained earlier, I use 4 drying racks when I dry my pasta in order to obtain the amount & length of pasta I desire. The wood is sturdy and smooth. I found no problems w/ stability. I'm happy w/ this rack & I hope some of my suggestions help you when making your pasta! Have fun & try some new ingredients you can alter recipes, customize them for your kids sneak in veggies. How about an Italian night w/ spaghetti done in white (regular pasta), red (beet added to the pasta) & green pasta (spinach pasta.
