Comfort should be constant.A Vornado circulator creates a unique airflow pattern called Vortex Action to circulate all the air in the room. The air flows fast, cool and constant to create a cooling experience unlike any other. |
Feel cooler, no matter where you are.Unlike whole-room circulation, oscillation only feels cooler when you’re in the direct path of airflow. A Vornado circulator provides comfortable, whole-room air circulation for the entire room by moving all the air - ensuring that everyone is consistently comfortable no matter where they sit. |
Take control of your airlow.Three speed settings and multi-directional airflow provide adjustable control to meet any air circulation need. |

Yes it’s a bit noisy at top speed, but for the air it puts out, that’s expected. Meh.
What’s killing me is I spent big bucks here to get super energy efficiency. At low speeds that looks true: 2-5W. 50W at max speed. But it’s a fake number: the power factor is bad ...really bad. 0.3 at low speeds 0.5 at high speeds. That means that the real current draw is 50-70% higher. So a 3W reading equates closer to 10W of “real” power draw, and more importantly the max draw of 50W looks more like a 100W in current draw. That’s almost identical to an AC fan. Remind me why did I buy this?
And the real bummer is it has nothing to do w the fan itself - that’s engineered great! Super solid. It’s a cheap AC adapter - really cheap. Vornado got shafted from the oem supplying these, or didn’t pay enough to get good ones. Shame on someone!
...and please also provide a longer power cord. Two feet for the AC side of the power brick is ridiculous (and cheap - more proof whoever spec’ does this charger screwed up). 3ft on the other side isn’t great either, especially if you want to put the fan on a table.
Full disclosure: I bought three of these before I checked the power draw and will keep them in the hope I can find a better oem power adapter for it. Such a shame a brilliantly engineered fan is trashed by a cheap choice in accessory.
On the lowest setting is very quite while still moving 351 cfm (per vortex). For comparison, several hand held, entry level leaf blowers run at 350cfm
Medium changes the game significantly - I wasn't able to find any published cfm for this setting, but would guess it is somewhere close to the middle between the low (351) and high (583) setting (467 cfm?) This is the setting I usually use as it generates a good amount of white noise on medium without turning my office into a tornado. It is enough white noise to drown out my family on the other side of my office's french doors while also moving a significant amount of air which helps keep my area cool (several computers/monitors and other electric devices constantly running in a closed space). Without a fan, it can get over 100 F in there. With a fan I'm usually > 10 F hotter then the rest of the house (I aim the fan at the underside of one of the two french doors to help exchange air as I have a exit vent from the HVAC system, but don't have a dedicated return vent in my office to help circulate the air).
High moves 583 cfm which is too much air movement in that space. However, I could see using that setting if my A/C failed or if I needed to work in the attic and wanted to force house interior air up into the attic. The design allows the fan head to pivot around 45 degrees downward to 90 degrees straight up, and on High when pushing 583cfm, it would definitely blow enough air up from the floor through the attic ladder access opening to make working up there bearable.
I love the Vornado fans, and have purchased at least 10 in the last decade. Out of those - two tower fans were broken out of the box (fan loose inside tower due to rough handling - shipping issue) and I believe it was three other smaller units actually failed before the warranty was expired (wouldn't spin on low setting). Vornado customer service is fantastic, a quick phone call, provide the the requested proof, and my replacement fan was shipped the same day. This is why I continue to purchase their fans! Be sure to register your fan when you receive it so you can be sure to get the full warranty time - Otherwise they may have to go by the sticker on the fan for date of mfg vs purchase date. I guess the days of having a fan last 10+ years are gone but I do hope this one is the exception...
The reason I chose this particular model is size and the mechanical power switch. I have it plugged into a wi-fi wall plug, so I can control it with Alexa "Alexa turn on Vornado". Some of the newer models have momentary switches that do not remember their state when they are unplugged then plugged back in. In other words, you cannot control them with a smart plug, because they default to off when plugged back in. A good mechanical switch like this one will stay in the last state when you plug it back in.
I recently was having visitors that were going to stay in a room spare bedroom. Sometimes, the door to the room is closed most of the time, so the room can become stuffy. I placed the 723 in the room to break up the stale air so that it could be ready for my visitors. In addition, I clipped a Febreze car air freshener to the grill of the 723: Febreze Car Vent-Clip Air Fresheners, Linen & Sky, 0.26 Fl. Oz. (Pack of 4)
to freshen the air, as it was circulating in the room. By the time, my visitors arrived, the air in the room was not stale and smelled great.

There are no other features. no sleep timer, no oscillation (not needed). no auto on/off. just point and power.
Unfortunately I cant justify the high cost for a fan (226$ CAD) and had to return the product. It really is a beast of a fan though
then why 4 stars? because vornado is false advertising. they advertised 683dc as capable of sending wind 80 ft away and 723 as 100 which infer 723 is only 20% more powerful than 683dc. this is completely wrong, 723 is at least 2 times power of 683dc. 683 wind dimishes after 6 meters and cannot really generate the advertised tornado effect to cool the entire room, while this fan actually can!
another reason for 4 star is the fact the are not using the same motor as shown in the picture. it might be a motor as good as the previous one, but still, if you change your component you need to inform the consumers of it.
Very quiet from low to medium power, which is enough power to circulate my space comfortably. Max power is a bit too noisy for my liking, but too be fair it is mostly wind noise from the air moving so strongly. The motor is very quiet and is easy to ignore.
Overall great value for the price.
This thing is overbuilt, and on low speed can feel it from almost 30 feet away. Along the walls you can actually feel air gently moving around.
The motor they use isn’t a tiny little 45 record player motor you get in cheaper fans, it’s a proper PSC motor that’s the size of a soda can (apparently it’s a standard size that can be replaced if it ever fails years from now). The heavier duty components, and the fact the 623, and 723 are still made in the USA is what you are paying extra for. Mine also arrived perfectly in balance, no vibration to speak of when it’s running.
If silence is what you are looking for, you might want to spend a little more and get the DC version, I wished the low speed was a little slower. It’s not silent but it’s a nice “whoosh” sound with a low hum from the blades, medium and high are a bit loud. Would work really nice for those that like white noise for sleeping.
I’m also hypersensitive, so the fact that this fan makes no motor noise, and a pleasant sound is nice. Would highly recommend for someone that needs a heavy duty fan that has to run constantly, I can see this lasting for many years.
