From the Stainless Steel bar stock material, CNC machine that cuts our plug right down to the hands of the VOTEX crew that craft each individual drain plug. We carefully and pridefully construct our plugs here in our home state of Wisconsin. This ensures that we supply drain plugs manufactured with real quality stainless steel (Not Pot Metal) that will last for countless years to come. We include an aluminum crush washer; Yes also MADE IN USA.

What makes our drain plug unique outside its flawless craftsmanship and top notch materials is the heart of it, a HIGH TEMPERATURE NEODYMIUM MAGNET. Our plug uses a rare earth high strength neodymium magnet, rated specifically to function in high temperature environments extracting unwanted ferrous particles from your vehicles engine. The VOTEX drain plug will operate in temperatures to 150°C or 302°F. A quality motor oil will tolerate oil temperatures up to 250 degrees, but starts breaking down once you reach 275 degrees. The operating temperature for engine oil is between 194 to 230°F, so our magnet will work in temperatures far past that of engine oil.

Neodymium magnets are one of the strongest magnets available on the planet, and we use one of the strongest grade versions available. Our magnet has the strength to hold weights over 2.2lbs! This empowers our plug with enormous strength to effectively pull these unwanted metals out of your motor oil resulting in longer engine life. Loose metal debris in your engine oil can slowly start to wear on the internals of your engine.

One must note that the drain plug market has a plethora of options, most of which are constructed of aluminum. Aluminum is an inferior metal choice due to its strength and commonly shear/snap leaving you with a broken plug stuck in your oil pan. Aluminum has no place as the material for a drain plug.

Removed So Many Shavings In New Car

I always change my oil in my new cars at about 500 miles initially, to get the crap out of it from the manufacturing process. Well, this time I did it at 100 miles, installed this magnetic drain plug, and holy cow. I wish that I had taken a picture. It looked fuzzy and fury from all of the shavings stuck to the think. For giggles, I put new oil in and ran it for 300 miles and checked it again and it again had filings and shavings. Holy crap Subaru!!! It wasn't nearly as bad as it had been, and I am certain that it takes time for the debris to randomly get close enough to be attracted by the magnet. This time, however, I placed a very strong, like crazy strong, magnet next to it, stuck to the oil pan. I will try it again in another 200 miles and use a small hose to suck filings once I remove the external magnet.

This thing works very well and I highly recommend using a magnetic drain plug. It will shock you what they collect.

This Drain plug was a little bit pricey. I believe the high quality, heftiness, and fine machine work was well worth it. I always try to use nothing but the best in and on my upgraded Subaru Boxer Engine. I get the joy of it's best performance in return. I believe the maget is more than capable of grabbing any debris my Purolator Boss oil filter might miss due to particle size. To be honest I hope the magnet drain plug will be clean at my next oil change. this product makes me feel secure. Don't gamble, I highly recommend the price and value of this product !

I bought this plug after the idiots at one of those fast lube places ripped up the original plug. The new one is stainless. with a magnetic tip. The magnet is a positive, but it is a little tricky installing the plug because the magnet is attracted to the side of the drain hole. It fit perfectly. Actually, it fit better than OE. I don't need to change my own oil, but spending $30 on synthetic oil and a good filter is much better than the $150 bucks the fast lube place charged.

I like the quality. It seemed much better built than the factory plug. Screwed in easily.

However, the factory torque specs for my plug is 32 lbs. when using a torque wrench it was making some really bad noises when trying to get there so I just stopped trying to tighten it all the way, for fear of stripping the pan.

So just be careful when trying to torque to spec.

Nice strong magnet as well.
