An Excellent Alternative to the Creality Ender 3 Pro!!
UPDATE: 3-4-2023 The Glass Coated Print Bed no longer adheres to the part. The coating will not work. I have cleaned it. Washed it, used IPA, and nothing works except using some glue stick. I would recommend getting a PEI Spring Steel Sheet with magnetic bed kit. That is what I am going to do. Okay, let me start off by saying that this is not a BASH on the Ender 3 Pro, it is a Good 3D Printer, but it is way over priced at $236.00 compared to the Aquila C2 at $165.00 for basically the same machine. Aquila C2 Price: $165.00 The Good: (What I like) It Comes with the following, Glass print Bed Which has a coating on one side and plain glass on the other. I put a PEI Sheet on the glass side for when I really need good bed adhesion. X Belt Tensioner Y Belt Tensioner Solid Power Supply 4040 Beam Construction for the base. 2040 for the Z Axis Uprights 202 Top Beam Good selection of tools included, especially side cutters. Hundreds of upgrade parts available on several sites. Very easy to upgrade the mainboard case to something easier to open and use. And the Micro SD card will be right side up. The case opens from the top. Far easier to work on. I also added a Creality v4.2.7 with customized firmware. The Bad: (What I do Not Like) Did Not Like the Limited firmware upgrades. (Fixed when I upgraded the Control board case and added a v4.2.7 board) Did not like the Non Silent Stepper Drivers (Very Noisy When Printing, hence the control board case and main board upgrade to a Creality v4.2.7 Silent Board) Did not like Loud Fans (Stupidly loud) (Fixed when I upgraded mine to RGB WINSINN 40mm fans, much quieter) Did not like the Flimsy Z Axis motor mounts (Fixed when I upgraded mine to CNC Machined Motor Mounts) I also do NOT like single Z Axis Lead Screw (Fixed when I upgraded mine to Dual Z Axis Kit with top bearing blocks) The print head stops right on the glass bed edge, making it hard to purge. (Fixed when I Upgraded to a shorted 3D Printed X Motor Cover and now the Nozzle is past the edge of the bed) Did not like the poor wire management. (Fixed when I added 3D Printed clips to clean things up) Did not like the issue with elephant footing on prints. (Fixed with a set of Backlash, Spring Loaded Nuts) Did not like the fact it had no handle on top. (Fixed when I 3D Printed an excellent one) Did not like the short feet it had. (Fixed when I 3D printed a set of 36mm High Feet) Conclusion: Yes this is less money than the Ender 3 Pro, a nearly $71.00 difference in price. If you like to tinker, and want to modify your 3D Printer, then this is a way better starting option. The Ender 3 Pro does not even come with a glass bed, or Y Belt tensioner, or an X Belt Tensioner, the Aquila C2 comes with these 3 important features. Yes, I spent some money on a Dual Z Axis Kit, a v4.2.7 Silent board, a Light Bar Kit, a Dual Gear Extruder, and lots of Yellow filament. My Aquila C2 runs circles around my friend's Ender 3 Pro in so many ways now that I have done some modifications. It is a good quality 3D Printer, and it has been so much fun modifying it. If you want to get into this hobby, and want to learn as you go, and you can, there are tons of videos online on how to modify it. The Aquila C2 is basically an Ender 3 Clone, but $71.00 cheaper for the base model. I spent roughly an additional $125+ dollars to get the Aquila C2 to where I wanted it. It is very close to what a Ender 3 S1 Pro would be, except the touch screen. I recommend this 3D Printer because it was $71.00 less than the Ender 3 Pro, and it is a very solid platform to start you 3D Printer adventure, and you education in how to improve and modify it.

this met all the specs and i have had excellent results.

being new to 3d printing, the hardest thing for me was leveling the platform. the negative things some people are saying sound familiar to me as i think i recognized feeling similarly when i was just getting started, but in the end, the problem wasn't the printer, it was me. it is a tedious process to get the platform level, and i think that is true even if you have automatic leveling feature (which i do have). i discovered i still had to get the platform as level as possible before i ran the self-leveling feature. believe me when i say it is tempting to try to take short cuts, but don't. just don't. e.g., when you get the left front set, and move to the right front, if you crank up the right front, the left front will go down ever so slightly from where you left it. after you get the right front set, you have to go back to the left front and lower it. that causes the right front to raise ever so slightly. so go back to the right front and lower, then back to the right front and raise, keep repeating until you get the right front and left front to both stay, then you have to repeat the process again between the left front and left rear, then your right front is out of adjustment again. but, don't give up... just keep tweaking it until all four corners are the same level. only when you have it as close as you can get it should you run the auto-leveler. it took me a week of painstaking persistence to get it dialed in, but that was several months ago, and several parabolas and moons and test patterns later, i haven't moved it and it perfectly prints them all.

** I am amending my original review to leave a comment regarding customer service.

***DISCLAIMER** Im not the sharpest tool in the box however, I'm not a complete idiot!

I've had my Voxelab Aquila X2 since July 2021 and have had several successful small print project. Just recently I started having issues printing larger projects. My issue was the print adhering to the build plate. The printer would print the few layers without issue then all of the sudden the nozzle would hit the print dislodging it from the build plate.

Well ....... roughly 45 days after my purchase, I just had a catastrophic print failure that would ultimately result in having to replace the entire extruder hot end assembly.

I reached out to aftersales (Customer support) seeking assistance hoping they would send me a replacement assembly (a $19 part on Amazon). Long story short, I have been corresponding since 9/17/2021 and today is 9/21.2021. After approx 5 days, my emails are met with totally senseless, condescending and insulting responses that I can only infer that are meant to frustrate the customer into just giving up and seeking help elsewhere. The type of responses have been:

    *How did this happen?
    *Please take a screen shot.
    *Take a photo.
*How did those screws get loose?
*After warning customer service that you cannot clean the hot end without damaging wiring; the response was: Please clean the hot end. (see attached photo for reference).
*Take a photo after you clean.
    *We wait your response.
*then I would get emails for someone completely different and the same questions would start all over without the new person reading the previous email string.

    My recommendations is:
Do as much research as possible about the technical aspects of 3D printing. Understand the mechanical aspects of any 3D printer. Knowing these things will make 3D printing much more enjoyable and satisfying for you.

In short: Customer service is a joke and absolutely useless. I hope someone with Voxelab is reading this and conducts some sort of internal review of their procedures and puts some intelligent people in place that will result in effective, productive and positive outcomes.

    ** END OF RANT **

I am reviewing the Voxelab Aquila X2. I am completely new to 3d printing and mad this purchase decision based on multiple reviews and tutorials I viewed online. This is a great product. It was simple to assemble while watching the assembly video from Voxelab. The unit printed beautifully on the first try. I get great consistent prints. I highly recommend this product for beginners and serious hobbyists.

We are completely new to 3d printing.
The box clearly shows what it is, but doesnt have alot of glamor to it like a retail box would. Which is fine. It is well packed however.
When you take everything out, be careful with things connected to wires. Lay everything out and then go watch the video over and over and over. There are little things not listed in the video, like mountain the limiter where the print head raises up and down the tower sides of the printer (I think called the z axis). You can adjust this so that when you level your bed your print head actually almost touches the bed.
For the life of me I couldnt get the print head close enough adjusting the bed. The wheels would fall off and I would still be far from touching the bed with the print head. Until I realized you could adjust that z axis limiting switch, set the bed to about mid way level between the two knob extremes from totally raised or totally lowered, then hit home and it will be much closer. Now you can use the knobs to fine tune the bed adjustment.
Onto the bed. Im not SUPER happy with this setup. I have to readjust every time. And when you do one adjustment and just bump the bed, it goes out of adjustment. Ive heard better springs help. You may also notice like me that when you adjust all four corners to the point that paper slides through fairly easily under the head and the bed, that when you go to center the head is UNCOMFORTABLY close. In fact once when we started a print it scratched the bed glass a bit. So that makes me worry about large prints, how well it will adhere to the surface.
I thought maybe I was making a bit to do about nothing, but that isnt the case. I didnt relevel for the next print a couple of days later for something that covered the center and only about 1/8th of the total size of the bed, and my first couple of layers were all messed up.
So the bed really needs some help honestly.
We had NO problem with the auto feed.

And most important, we are printing some really nice stuff. Ive seen people print benchy and show their pride in their prints, most of which you can really see lines that arent lined up super perfect. Our benchy was absolutely perfect. It still amazes me that it could print openings without supports! The words on the back and bottom were difficult to see, Im not sure why when the rest of the ship looks so great. We also printed a baby yoda with zero supports, and it somehow printed the hands fairly well (including fingers!)

Also I should mention when we start up a preheat, we hear this fan noise and a loud buzzing/rubbing sound that goes away after about ten seconds. I also heard some whinning when the z axis goes home for the first time. It made sure it was perfectly straight when installed so, not sure if that needs grease or?

I should also mention that one of the pieces of metal that are used to mount the xaxis to the arm, was bent on the end. But it looked like it was by design. It took me about an hour watching videos and posts from people putting this together to realize this should have been. So I had to take this out into a vice and hammer it straight, then screw it tight which seemed to make it seat well. But that was a major OH CRAP moment, and I thought we were taking this xmas present back which would have been a real bummer.

One more annoyance that I can't get my head around. The printer estimates the time remaining, but is about as accurate as the federal government on managing anything. One minute it will say 7 hours remaining, then another it will say 9 hours, then 13, then 6. It's all over the place. You really cant trust it until it's almost finished and even then, not.

I should also note it took a LONG time to print our benchy, more than what most are reporting from what I can tell. So without knowing much about printers Im not sure whats going on or how to test if we have something wrong. All I know is it prints what it printed so far really nicely, with some pains on leveling the bed every time. And for the price, what a great way to get into the hobby. BUT, I dont know that I will have the patience to print something for 12 hours that is so small.

Printer worked great out the box with very few tweaks. Was really happy with the purchase until it seized up completely and stopped working after approximately 1/2 roll of petg (which it printed far better than my older but far more expensive Qidi).

Would have warranted a 5/5 review but for the major reliability question.
