I read the main journal about his trip to the Pacific a while back and it was excellent and I always wanted to read about his first trip up to the arctic circle.
This journal resembles the other by being filled with fairly tedious daily detail such as the directions of travel, the game bagged, the lay of the land, problems with managing his Indian companions/employees. But that was the substance of the activity, so what do you expect? There are occasional bright spots along the way which help make it more rewarding.
A very long "History of the Fur Trade" proceeds the journal and I didn't bother to read it. I didn't feel I needed any more exposition about this kind of stuff.
