What a great historical regency suspenseful novel! This might be the third book in the unmarriageable series there is still much to like; the story is pretty good and the characters are written well. Sure the books can pretty much standalone without much confusion but to understand the familial and relationships of all the characters it might not hurt to start from the beginning though. The story still moves quite nicely even though there is a lot to the mystery surrounding Sydney. Still even with everything not fully explained which causes some confusion about him or who he really is, he isn’t a bad guy. Also it would have been nice to see a little bit more of his history especially with his family to understand him better the book still is an easy read. The heroine Henrietta has really changed from a superficial title hungry girl to a woman interested in love which is a relief to see, making her more likable in the end. Henrietta makes up for everything b being loyal, caring and spunky to Sydney’s crusty exterior. Hopefully there will be more in this series because they are well worth the read!
Excitement and adventure abound when our sweet and kind-hearted Heroine meets our mysterious, swoonworthy Hero..I just loved the antics of Henrietta's siblings, and Readers will be delighted with Minnie, the sweet pup who is rescued in this story.
THE VULGAR HEART is simply wonderful, and illustrates beautifully the writing talent of Mary Lancaster! Sometimes, brave, kind-hearted Damsels resuce Heroes in distress, as you will see in one of the most thrilling moments in this book!
Five glittering stars for THE VULGAR HEART!
Henrietta is bored with her first season but saving a puppy, literally falling and getting saved by a cit/banker....smuggler makes it a lot more interesting.
And Sydney is intrigued by the young debutante but there is no chance he will be seducing her....but their second meeting at the Hart Inn teaches him she is not the usual 18 year old.
1. The age difference. She is 18 and he is 36 (double her age) if I am not mistaken.
2. The unspoken thought that if he were NOT going to become an earl they would not have ended up together.
Also, I thought that there was no choice about whether one's direct descendant inherited a title or not.
